King Tuck wants that bag..................I love the guy, and I don't say this out of spite, but he seems to be more concerned about the $$ and not the situation. "IF" I was a guy like Tuck, I would get mine, but I would also want to be on a team who had a chance, I don't get this whole "sell your soul" to the highest bidder but never sniff the playoffs, maybe its just me, but I would sacrifice some $$ for the right fit.............at the end of the day would I miss anything if I settled for $20 Million per year vs $25 million per year, it just seems like monopoly money at that point.

According to Spotrac, Kyle's brother Preston made 1.6 million during his career (2012-2023) with the Astros paying 1.0 million. Kyle wants a bag.

More to @raining threes point, dealing Pressly and Caratini and using that money to land a quality OF like Santander gives you the chance of a higher optimal lineup (both Diaz and the quality OF healthy and playing) than holding Caratini as a backup and hoping to get a quality OF later. The injury to Diaz might never come, or it might come mid season but he is healthy for the playoff run. In any case, it is better to allocate resources for higher upside when the risk is comparatively similar.

Maybe since he already has 1 World Series ring, it's good enough. Obviously you want multiple rings but I would say for any athlete, the ultimate goal is to win 1. Some great athletes never ended up winning a single title, let alone getting to a finals.

But I also think you're right. Even if he didn't win in 2022, I think he would have prioritize money and location over winning. But at the same, I don't think he signs with a garbage team. I could see him signing with a team that is already a playoff team or one of those teams that in a few years, would be contenders.

I have always though that Tucker would end up with the Rays. He seems like a bit of a home body. Chilling where he was brought up, able to go to Lightning games and playing video games when not doing baseball stuff.

can they afford him? Lol would be funny seeing him torture the Yankees in the Al East though.

Damn the cubs couldn't shell out 2.5 mill? I mean it's not my money or anything, but geeze.

But couldn't Tucker taken a $2.5 discount?? Also rather than straight up giving the extra $2.5, why not go to arbitration. Chance arbitrator rules in teams favor or meets in the middle. You just saved money. And if Tucker already told not interested in a long term contract then who cares if feelings are hurt during arbitration.

Unless something changed, I don't think you can meet in the middle once it goes to arbitration. The arbiter either rules for or against the team.

What team is going to be able to afford the contract Tucker is going to command and never sniff the playoffs? He'll likely end up on the Yankees, Mets or Phillies.

Might as well add the dodgers to that list too.

That's fair, but i definitely don't see him taking a discount lol. Cubbies gave up contributing pieces/players too. Maybe it works out for both. Cubs go all in 2025 (not sure how good or bad they are) and tuck dips for the bag in the off season....

I mean I'm glad it's not an Astros problem anymore.

Yeah no idea how good the Cubs are but if they're out of a playoff race and as long as Tucker is healthy and performing, they can recoup some assets at the trade deadline. But what's brutal for the Cubs is they traded assets for Paredes and then traded Paredes plus assets for Tucker. Whatever they get for Tucker would still look pretty bad when you combine all 3 trades together.

This is what happens when Tucker told the Cubs he didn't want to do an extension. The Cubs are rightfully acting as if Tucker wont be back with the org after this year.

Don't see any of those teams outbidding the Mets, Yankees, or Dodgers. If any team will IMO it will be the Phillies because Schwarber and Realmuto will be coming off the books next year followed by Castellanos the following year.

Edit: I guess it does depend on what kind of season he has this year. If he stays healthy the entire year and hits like he did last year, he's getting a stupid contract. If he gets hurt again or has a down year in Chicago, I could see one of the teams you listed getting him.

You were just deferring your comment much like the Dodgers.

Ain’t no way the Yankees let a chance to get Tucker slip away.
