ClutchFans Game Thread: Rockets @ Grizzlies 1/9/2025

Kind of a cool website I found that breaks down each team’s average age, minutes played, and usage.

We’re 4th youngest in minutes played and 2nd youngest in usage.

Great Rocket win ... on the road ... down two rotation players ... against a solid playoff bound team ... who made the Rockets finish well in the fourth quarter.

This game would have been a loss last year.

I have been complaining about offense and execution and yesterday there was evidence of work, repetition and much execution on the court.

We still need to keep working on specific actions using both Alpi and Jalen because that is going to be our key combination down the road.
We look better with Amen on the starting lineup, which is crazy because we actually have 2 non shooters on that line up.

 

This game should’ve been won way easier, but once again when defense gets tighter, we start to play hesitant, have almost no sets and it’s all 1-on-1. That’s much less on the players and I put that on the coaches. But it’s frustrating to see Sengun play indecisively and Green not able to break free.

 

Great win. We couldn't make free throws, shot only 42%, and once again none of our young core stepped up to be our 4th quarter closer. And yet.... we won! Good job, everyone. We did it.

Not FULL Belichick. I don’t think his girlfriend or wife is a high school senior.

 

Jalen was trying, but well, he hit 2 big shots before committing 2 turnovers. Ime rightfully made the adjustment to put it in fvv's hands.

Also liked how fred ran the pnr inside the arc and settled for the higher percentage mid range shot.

 

Sengun’s body language is directed at teammates not just refs. Sometimes it being HIS fault. If Cam has a so called attitude, then Sengun definitely has one. For some reason nobody talks about Sengun’s temper tantrums

 

This day was one of the best days of my life.

 

Maybe because one guy is top 10 in VORP and the other guy isn’t even ranked.

 

Idk maybe that’s true but I mostly see fvv or Dillion yelling at sengun who messed up defensively who is nodding and raising his hand toward the coach saying my bad. I think holding people accountable and communicating defensive lapses is good for the team. I see him complaining at the refs way more which I think is more of a problem. He doesn’t have the fame to yell at the ref and have them listen like LeBron or draymon. I think it just pisses the refs off. I think the comparison is not good. I remember Jabari talking **** to teammates his rookie year but the team has been good at giving each other confidence. I think the cam stuff is overblown and I think he is in his own head and disappointed in himself. We haven’t had a real problem with player attitude since Tate and harden had a “fight” in practice where harden threw the ball at him but we all know why that happened. KPJoker and wood was a problem cam is fine.

 

Good win, but watching again, the last 3 mins prove why Jalen is not ready to be the main facilitator 3 horrible turnovers...allowed the Grizz a chance to win.

Even his biggest fans like ATW have definitely talked about how he jaws at the refs too often instead of just playing ball. It's definitely the most annoying thing about his actions on the court. He's still extremely important to this team, and it seems we are stuck with him regardless since we just signed him to a 5 year extension.
