this year, no. just ride it out and see where it will take them and they NEED to reassess during the offseason.

the window is slowly opening up so offseason after this season is necessary. not just the players. the coaching staff will also need to be looked at.

Just imagining Stone, at Tom's Diner with Udoka, explaining that while everybody is doing something, we'll do nothing.

You're gonna put all us armchair GMs out of business? Just like that?

We're just supposed to ... what? Watch games? And keep our ill-considered roster moves to ourselves?

No problem. I agree that Amen needs to get in I'm just not sure FVV needs to go. At least, I don't think Ime wants to turn it over to a new point guard starting next year. It's just really risky and we're second in the West now with FVV at point.

Amen should've gotten more minutes early on, was it an injury that kept him out? We have too many players worthy of minutes and some people need to go. It could be Fred, or Jalen, or maybe Dillon? I don't think anyone of consequence goes until the summer. And I certainly think Jalen was gifted a ton of minutes his whole career and would be a better player if he had been made to work for them.

Amen may be a superstar but can he be the top player on a championship contender?

I am in the FVV upgrade group... but I also realize Ime loves the guy and it would be tough to replace your playoff-hardened championship ring possessing PG at this stage.

That being said, I believe we should tinker around the edges to improve the team.

CHI would be first on my list while looking at many of the players on their roster not named LaVine or Patrick Williams (WTF happened to him)

What is the end goal of this year? 5 year plan?

Jeff Green is a $8M expiring contract
Steven Adams is a $12.6M expiring
Tate is a $7.1M expiring contract
    Jock Landale is a $8M

You can't re sign them just to use them in a trade. Rockets will be letting

Rockets would need to use other contracts to make a deal for a star.
a.k.a. using our core players to get a deal done.

    _____________________
Some possible free agents this summer:
    LeBron age 40.....Player Option
    Butler age 35......P.O.
    Van Vleet age 31....Team Option
    Irving age 33.......P.O.
    Harden age 35.....P.O.
    Ingram age 27.....U.F.A (always injured)
    Middleton age 33....P.O. (always injured)
    Julius Randle..........P.O.
    Myles Turner...........U.F.A.

If you are thinking we can get Anthony Edwards or Giannis this summer.....think again.

I'd rather use our cash and picks on Booker now or Jerami Grant
and Cameron Johnson who can shoot and put the ball on the court
    and drive.

We are suppose to be where the Thunder were two years ago and be around 8th seed.
Instead we are Thunder last year. Set up to be bounced early while sitting at top seed,
unless we go all in now and bring in a couple of shooters or Booker.

Even at that the Thunder went after Caruso and Hartenstein.....not stars. SMART

Personally i'll take a proven commodity over a guy 'with potential' that may 'just need time to develop.' Sure you may let go of a guy before he reaches his potential - but just playing the odds.... a proven commodity is a much better play the vast majority of the time. Most often, the winner of a trade is the team that walks away with the best player - not the poopoo platter.

I think Jalen will continue to improve and rise to the occasion.

Actually, we do need to address our PG position.. FVV will be gone this summer and Reed is not ready to take on his role yet..

I don't even think Reed should be running point, he was a SG in college and he should be one in the NBA.

We either need to trade for a star PG or hopefully draft one this summer.

While all of that is fine and dandy... a Deaaron fox type, given that you give up picks, cam, a FVV, put this Rockets team in serious contention. 27, 7 years in the NBA, and a professional bucket getter, something this team misses at the end of games. He fits right in and makes us a very scary team come the playoff times.

We are deep. We are ready.

I don't think this team as constructed cannot win BIG game in BIG moments. We will just have to wait and see.

I think that get its done, but might be an overpayment given the potential of the 2 younger lads and then the picks as well. I think I would do it if the pickets were the Rockets picks and not the suns.

This is why the Rockets don't need to do anything:

Every other team in the top 5 outside the Rockets are doggy doodoo.

Listening to Wilbon from yesterday afternoon he's discussing the West and he said he thinks Hou is the only team built to be right there with OKC in.the future. Says he thought they were loaded with talent up and down the roster. Have drafted great and have great coaching that has them playing hard. Expects big things from them going forward.

    Go Rox!

Imagine Udoka on the Grizzlies and what he would do for them granted the Offense would take a small dive......

That's the World renowned Grit and Grind Bears 3.0 back in town.

Outside of Houston, the Spurs and Grizz fit him very well.

We cannot afford to ride it out. Not doing anything means we lose enormous asset value. We won’t be able to compete with teams that optimize both organic and inorganic development.
    1. We have 7 young guys that will require extension, we won’t be able to pay them all
    2. We are not able to give all young guys the required playing time to improve their skills and optimize their asset value, eg Reed/Cam
    3. We have many future picks that we will not be able to develop / give minutes to, if we stand pat
    4. We have $70m expiring/options contracts with asset value that we can use in trades. Not doing anything means we lose that value. One of those expirings/options is FVV, a decision needs to be made about his future.
Any move we make just needs to add (potential) asset value, doesn’t need to be the final move. Eg trading Bari, fillers and some picks for Lauri or FVV + Tari/Reed/Cam + picks for Fox or Booker.
