Jets are ONLY team interested in Slowik, and he is at the bottom of their list. The Texans think he is great. Most fans think he is awful. Wonder what the players think.
7 coaching positions opened. Best Jobs depending if you're a Caleb or Maye guy= Pats/Bear, Bears/Pats. Teams that have the upper hand on sentimental homecomings=Pats with Vrabel. Jets and Saints with Glenn. That leaves 4/5 teams competing for 7 of those names on the list. I can see Kingsburry ending up in Jax Joe Brady sits it out waits another year. Jon Gruden becomes ambassador to Mexico and Africa so he won't be available. hehe Titans end up with Flores. It's a good fit. They have some good solid defensive pieces and he'll ruin the next qb they pick in the future. Sorry guys, Bobbay is not getting hired. It's a reach.
Don't like the idea of Kingsburry in Jax, but I REALLY don't like the idea of Flores with the titans. At least, not unless we fully get rid of Bobby AND his scheme. Flores was the first coach to absolutely EVISCERATE our offense. and he proceeded to do it to every shanahan schemed team. That being said, he is terrible with the offense and QBs and Kingsburry cant put a full season together so we would still remain the most "complete" team...
Imagine how much worse teams like Buffalo, KC, Baltimore, Minnesota, or Detroit would be with Slowik calling the plays. We aren't in the playoffs because he's some great offensive coach, that's for sure.
I am over Slowik, he just can't or won't adjust. Yes, the O-Line is not very good but his schemes to try and fix this suck, the bunch formations do not work, the TE cannot block and the O Line, albeit a smidge better last week looks like high school kids at time not knowing who to block. As an OC, if what your coaching is not resonating with the talent you have, then you have to change to fit what they do well.......I am tired of the, "we just have to execute better", damn dude, you're asking them to do things they simply cannot do.
I mean sure, maybe some of them were too overrated in the draft, not as strong as they looked in college, or maybe just not that smart, but not all of them. I don't know what the problem is. I just can't help think a different coach could make them better.
I wish Bobby's job was on the line for this game. I expect the defense to show up and for this to be a low scoring game so the only question is if we can eek out enough offense.
In all honesty it dam well better be, if the Offense lays an egg again, no way he stays as the OC.............if you look at the body of work this year it is simply not acceptable, and F that talk about him staying and getting rid of the O Line coach. If I hear, "we just have to execute better" one more time my head will explode. For the sake of CJ, it is time to move on and if we do lose, I hope he gets fired faster than the Pats coach who didn't even have time to change his clothes
Smart coaches adjust systems to meet their player's strengths... Bill Walsh was great at that... T_Man
There's a saying in education: "If they didn't learn it, you didn't teach it." Coaches, even at the professional level, have to be teachers. You can't just tell people things and expect them to get it. You have to teach it. You have to rep it. You have to analyze, evaluate, and check for understanding. Yes, there are going to be players who pick up things quickly or can just figure things out for themselves. But there are others that need more attention. If the offensive line doesn't know who to block when X, Y, and Z happens then you didn't sufficiently teach them their responsibilities in that situation. Or you didn't rep it enough for them to really understand or master the concept. And yes, you have to know your players and put them in a position to succeed. If your TE is awful at blocking, don't make your TE the lead blocker on a toss play and act surprised when the play gets blown up.
