I mean he put up 18 FGAs in an overtime game at Kentucky, but nothing close to 33. I say keep on launching.

I'd say Gleague players have more offensive freedom than college players. College coaches really don't allow their players much freedom.

Absolutely. I bet he never put up 33 in AAU or high school either though. I'm just really impressed he was able to perform in that mode, when it hasn't really been his game before.

Sure but 33 is absurd, even 17 of the bench in a shorter college game is pretty crazy

He could be the deadline "trade" that pushes this team further.

I believe one Rockets Legend Daishen Nix once tore up the G-league as well.

The G-league is so far from the NBA that it's only useful to see if guys are improving on weak areas.

This is true, the G league is a joke, but what it can show is that the kid really can knock down the 3, he just needs to get comfortable and stop rushing it.

Believe it or not, some of the dumber posters here were questioning his shot.

This is what he should be averaging in the NBA. Ime's corner hide 3 spot is holding him back.

    I'm a huge Abdul-Rauf fan.

Here is a great description of Abdul-Rauf's offensive game by the great Isiah Thomas :):

Reed’s release is almost as quick, but I don't think Reed's offensive game is close to Abdul-Rauf's. Abdul-Rauf was almost unguardable. However, they do have some things in common. Both were picked 3rd, and unfortunately, both are weak defenders. Abdul-Rauf couldn't defend a fly. However, Reed is already a better defender than Abdul-Rauf ever was, and I do think he will get better if he can get stronger through NBA strength training.

He was fun to watch. I remember Calvin being a big Abdul-Rauf fan (clearly saw himself in him).

Props to him for shooting in the GLeague but he was shooting 28% in the NBA. Why don't you wait for his NBA percentage to be decent before you start calling people out?

This is what I kept saying in another thread about he's got the DNA to be a shooter/scorer. He just doesn't look to be a shooter/scorer unless necessary. If you keep giving him the shots or if you leave him open, he's proven since high school he can make you pay using a drive or a jumper. The weird thing hasn't been he's been missing shots (that's something that could be worked out) - the weird thing has been he stopped taking shots. I said before the game, he better be jacking shots in the G-League because the guys down there know he's going to come down there and be the alpha. So I know they were helping set him up, so it would be up to him to jack those shots and he did. Lord, did he jack them.

Still don't know if this will continue in the NBA. I don't want him taking 30+ shots, but at least take them when you're open.

Let him light up the G League a bit to get his confidence and conditioning back.

Nothing beats actual playing time regardless of the level of competition.

Is he good? I mean, he hasn't played much, but his numbers aren't good on either side of the ball. We'll have to wait for a larger sample, but I'm not prepared to say he's good at anything just yet.

Yeah, I had high hopes it would operate like baseball minor leagues. Especially when it started out as the developmental league “D League”
