At the NBA level, PG is a lot harder for Reed than off-ball (for now). Not saying he can't bring the ball up sometimes and initiate the offense.

When he comes back up, Reed should focus on shooting the ball and making baskets: Getting open, running off screens and confidence. This is the simple stuff he must master first. It's also where the Rockets need help the most.

He'll have occasions to initiate the offense, but setting up others shouldn't be his primary focus yet. But that will come.

Damn, has Reed ever taken 33 shots in a game in his life?

I feel like Ime gave him and Cam the opposite things to focus on :D

"If you don't go down there and put up 20+ shots a night you'll never play for me again!"

It's funny, people watch Reed explode for 49 points and then ask why coach has him playing off the ball (while everyone else on our team are brick layers). It doesn't make any sense for Reed to get guys like Tate and Amen open corner 3s. It's gotta be the other way around for this roster.

Literally every single one of our young guys has developed under Ime with the exception of Reed, who I imagine will develop as well.

What a ridiculous and nonsensical thing to say. Just no basis in reality whatsoever.

At this point the only people that don't think Ime is a good coach are the guy in the Celtics front office who's wife Udoka banged and this guy.

    Wait a minute...

I know it’s only G League, but that “Reed’s a Bust” thread might have been a tad premature;)

I swear to god I think this kid is going to become our Nash/Redick 2-in-1 and it’s going to be absolutely nuts that we finally have a legit shooter.

If you watch the Viper highlights, the team did run at least one elevator screen set for Reed. That's two guys working together to free up a shooter. I'm not sure I've ever seen a team in Rocket Red set up a shooter on fire like that.

A few posts in various threads complain that Sheppard has a slow release. That never made any sense to me. He just was over-preoccupied with passing to teammates and out of rhythm on his shot.

Nice to see Sheppard show off his ability.

There is not enough practice time during the regular season for fringe rotation guys to develop. The G-League has been a godsend to those players with potential and need to get their bodies and minds adjusted to the speed and outside pressures of a professional team. Only a few rookies can hit the ground running and get developed by being on the court if the team is good. Reed couldv'e been developed while playing in the NBA for a team like Washington, but not for a team like the Rockets. He should've been sent down to RGV almost immediately. If he had, he might be ready now for a call-up if one of our guards gets injured.

I think Ime is actually a good development coach in terms of preparing kids for the physical rigors and mental pressures of competitive NBA basketball. He's just not good at offense. He needs help in that regard.

Good eye. Not everyone notices that, even when it works.

Ime actually started running a few elevators last year.

Here's one for Reed earlier this year...defense gets through, though, so many fans miss it.

I was hoping the kid would find some rhythm and shoot himself out of his slump, but damn. I wasn't expecting that.

Not bad for a slow, unathletic, 6'1.75" T-Rex armed bust. :D

And I'm assuming some of the folks I have blocked are posting in here, so if I missed any "G-League stats don't matter" posts, you know damn well the agenda toting Reed haters would have been all over the kid if he had shot under 35% or looked even half as good as he did last night. The numbers absolutely matter when it comes to showcasing a skillset. If nothing else he showed the stroke that most of us were expecting to come around all year.
