This kid is freaking special. He attacked AD twice last night and scored over him at the rim. You don't see that every day. Very few players have his finishing ability and he's just a sophomore. He's already elite defensively too. He's playing like an early Giannis.
I think that, while he has obviously shot poorly this season to date, Fred is crucial to what we do. Others have mentioned how the offense plummets when he’s off the floor. And I say that as a (tentative) Amen-as-pg believer. Nobody else on the roster at this point in time can do what Fred does for us as well as he does it. I think it could be reasonably argued that this is at least partially on Ime for not giving Amen enough reps with the ball in his hands and not giving Reed any leash to work on his game, but here we are. So I think in the short term if you gave Fred’s minutes to Amen we’d take a step back while he learned on the job. (Which, for the record, I would be cool with. I want Amen to have the ball in his hands more.)
anyone else find it surprising that Amen is only averaging 12.3 ppg? It seems like he's one of our most impactful players every game, yet only averages 12 points per game.
Don't need to score a lot of points to have a big impact on the game. And 12ppg coming off the bench isn't something to sneeze at either. Draymond made all-star teams averaging 11ppg as a full-time starter. Also, Amen shoots 56% from the field so while he doesn't take a lot of shots he makes them count.
I would have guessed it was about 14 ppg, but likely low due to mpg. Amen is great even if the scoring isn't huge.
LeBron James on the Thompson Twins: “They ain’t like the rest of us. I’ve been able to go against some dudes in my career, and those two guys, man, they’re just pure athleticism.”
Well, TT2 is tearing up the league but what is the deal with TT1? Are we going to see him again this year or what?
