It will continue to flip flop the next few days. If it goes away permanently, then we just get cold, miserable rain. Temps look to be there or close for most of the area. Whether or not a warm nose exists in the mid levels will determine what falls out of the sky. Sometimes cold rain can cool the layer enough to change over to snow, as we saw in the 2004 White Christmas.
Whatever is coming is going to be moving fast to be able to pass through Houston in 12 - 15 Hours. At the moment, it is at/near cities such as Amarillo and OKC.
Thursday gonna be nasty up here, rainy with borderline freeze. Will be an excellent day to not leave the house.
I remember hearing about kids running and playing in 30° slushy mixes of rain and sleet -- what has happened to this new generation of soft boomers afraid of their shadows?
I hate this cold weather, but we have been lucky so far this year. Hell, I was in shorts most every weekend including yesterday.
Only 50, friend, only 50. Running and playing in it ain't the same as driving ~30 miles in it, mucking around in it, then taking off the mud boots and coveralls and driving ~30 miles back. I'm all for KC's idea.
Hanging out with the Boomers in the Music thread gave some the wrong idea about your age. I agree, but I have trudging through the snow like those in Northern states have to do as even worse.
