He has not taken a leap or anything, but at this point his advanced metrics are all a little better than they finished last season, which included his crazy March. Continuous improvement is good to see. I would like to see him figure out how to accentuate contact more so the refs call his fouls, and get more assists.
Huh? A player shooting 2-4 from 3 in one game means nothing. A player shooting 2000-4000 over 3 seasons means a lot. No you have never answered anything, you never answer anything that anyone asks you.
LOL, SMH, yes....on a team that had nothing at all going for them to the point he was like the 2nd best player on the entire team at the time. When you have absolutely nothing, you grasp for any hope possible. I think it's best to just be happy that the franchise isn't in that awful state anymore, and that some of the worst players in the entire league have improved since then.
...he has to stop contorting his body to avoid contact and start trying to go through players like Cam does. He will likely not make it because he is a slight guy but he will pick up more fouls and it's not like he makes a lot of those weird english shots he puts up when trying to jump around defenders anyway..
Just checking in to compare to where Jalen was last season--on January 6th, he was averaging 17.4 points on 40.6% / 35.2% shooting. That compares with 20.0 points on 41.4% / 32.4% shooting right now. With all the talk about "JG sucks pre-ASB" I think we forget that he actually started off pretty well during the very early parts of last season, then hit a massive slump during kind of the second third of the season. Question is, can he have an upward trajectory from here as it seems like he's currently trending, and carry that into another very strong final third of the season?
Jalen's putting up these numbers on a team that's 2nd in the West. That's a huge deal compared to last year even if the numbers are similar.
True, but how much of that is to JG's credit? I do think his defense has taken another step forward, but honestly, I think a lot of it is just that Amen is healthy, playing a lot more minutes, and has already improved substantially. Plus just, the whole young core has taken a step forward defensively, not only Jalen. Jabari was playing better on that end before he went down. Tari was a menace as usual before all this and I think he got even better too. Alpi has been a lot better defensively, last night notwithstanding. And our backup center play has been much better overall than the absolute-nothing Jock gave us in the early parts of last season.
Your numbers kind of suggest the only difference between this season and last is volume, not that he's actually been any better (other than defensively) and that's pretty true. While Jalen has had a few very good games, he's been disappointing for nearly the entire season up to this point....but there's some hope that this time something will be different and he'll continue the seeming upward trajectory of the past 2 games....but we've seen this from him many times before, so we'll need a larger sample of quality games before anyone should get too crazy. That said, if the last 2 games ends up being typical of the rest of the games this season, it GREATLY improves the Rockets ceiling, so hopefully it's not just random flukes this time around.
Good question. We will see at the end of the season. Another question is whether he shows much improvement in shooting percentages for the year compared to last year, and how that compares to an average shooting guard, which is 44.4% FG and 36.8% 3 PT. How long will it take for him to consistently maintain that average for a year? Until then, we know there are bigger fish in the sea we could put in that spot if the opportunity presents itself.
I don't have gripe with mutiny on the Bounty but he should have at least played 4-5 years before he mouthed off......
Jalen has been the top reason we have won some games this year (vs Dallas, last night vs LA, just off the top of my head) so he is scoring points in meaningful games and not just garbage time. Even if it's because of Amen we are in these games, the fact is that his points matter more than when we are down 20 and Jalen scores 10 in the 4th quarter.
That he'll have greatly improved and the Rockets have a much higher ceiling as a result. The key is shooting, it always was.
He is finishing at 70% 0-3 ft so those contortions do produce results. I think its more of he gets hacked with no call so he stops driving inside or he starts feeling himself when he starts making them and goes on heat check mode to test his luck. The coaching staff just needs to fix his mentality and have him go hard to the rim no matter what.
The best solution for our team to rise to contender level is for Jalen Green to really figure it out. This is why I am still keeping some hope. I don't have a lot of faith that it will happen. But I can pray. Amen!
