Players like Duncan Robinson or Vucevic would give us some potential offensive punch and spacing without costing too much.
With all due respect, I don't think Reed has the physique to play for the Bills, preseason form or not!
I mean, it would not even register as a blip on the radar. Kyrie Irving was trade for 1 pick two times in his life and it's only because his contract situation meant he could leave a year later or something. My experience is that NBA GM's act exactly like asset managers specifically like real estate asset managers. The number or years in team control is something the average fan has no clue about, but it is the key determinant between sending 1 pick and 5 picks. Star players have been traded for 1 pick and they've been traded for 5 picks. A healthy star player with team control for 3+ years is where you get the bigger trade packages. Fox can threaten to leave and turn the entire organization's next season into a lame duck season. That's massive leverage that his agent knows and the GM knows they know. That's why sometimes prices are lower than we think, other times they're higher. As for your statement about most are overpays: as you like to say, the numbers are the numbers. That's the market price. As far as context goes, we can either pay the price or sit on the sidelines. No one is going to offer Sacramento tons of picks for Fox because even if they have a handshake agreement on an extension, the league will investigate them and screw them. The optics of a team traded tons of picks for a 1 year contract would be the end of them.
https://www.espn.com/nba/insider/story/_/id/43298903/nba-trade-deadline-2025-player-watch-all-30-teams Houston Rockets Trade candidate: Cam Whitmore, Forward With the Rockets battling for home-court advantage, a blockbuster trade seems unlikely before the deadline. Perhaps, however, they'd consider moving Whitmore to a team with more need for young talent. Over the five games from Dec. 23 through New Year's Day, Whitmore averaged 14.6 PPG on near-50/40/90 shooting splits. Yet Whitmore, who might be the best prospect on several rosters but is merely one of many for Houston, projects out of the team's rotation at full strength. That could net the Rockets a better pick than the 20th overall in 2023 used to take Whitmore.
Haha kyrie is a……special individual. Most teams were not gonna touch that. We’ll see what happens with fox, my ideal scenario is the spurs break the bank for him but we’ll see.
Do not want Fox on a team with a stretch 5 who can block 5 shots a game. If anyone can improve his shaky shooting also, it's the f*cking Spurs. Fox's stats will inflate to SGA level during his time there, he will actually be worth an overpay in that scenario. In a vacuum Fox is not all that, but too good a fit with Wemby imo. Would rather see Fox exit the conference or join a team in the West with a traditional offense like ours so his efficiency goes back down.
Eh, i’d rather they get fox then risk them getting someone better later on. Anyone is gonna fit amazing with wemby
There's levels to the fit. When one's weakness is the other's strength, it's hard to stop the synergy.
My fear is Ant goes there. If the spurs burn everything for fox, that’s good for us imo. Them having a 30% albatross on their books is fine by me.
Just dreaming. FVV, Reed, Tari all Phoenix picks, 27 nets swap, Rockets 29 and 31 picks for Giannis, Connaugton Amen, Jalen, Giannis, Jabari, Sengun. Bench: Holiday or MLE, Cam, Connaugton, Dillon, Adams. Shooting be damned that team wins it all.
If it's for a likely lottery pick I'm game. Anything less than that, I think Cam is probably more valuable for now. I might prefer to consolidate and include him in a trade for Booker, Fox, etc if possible, but hard to say whether those players will actually get moved.
Only reason to do that would be to get a pick to avoid the Stepian rule and enable a trade of the 2025 Phoenix pick.
More a change of scenery trade fro their players. I'd let them pick an one of our expiring contracts that they want instead of Tate.
I hear you,... big difference is you got 2 guaranteed years of LaVine with a player option that he is going to prolly invoke (so 3 years) FVV has a TEAM option at the end of this year (so expiring - if you want or could renegotiate) If the trade was FVV - Adams - Tate - Landale for Coby White - LaVine - Vucevic - Torraye Craig, I would be ALOT more interested. I mean FVV is from Rockford, IL which is about 90 minutes from Chicago.
@Whenitsover 3 team: HOU - CHI - POR CHI: FVV (HOU) + 2 SRPs via HOU Rockford's finest goes home POR: Lonzo Ball (CHI) + 2027 protections shifted from top 14 to top 5 HOU: Simons (POR) + Vucevic (CHI) All teams stay under the tax
Simons? Dude hasn't played a lick of defense in his entire career. You think Ime is going to approve an acquisition like that? This defense is very reliant on not having a weak link
