I know, I know, you know nothing at all about basketball so the conversation goes over your head... this is why we sit you at the little kids table.

Run along till you grow up.

Knecht played like 4-5 years of college and is a horrific defender. He also is struggling right now.

Edey played 4 years of college, and is limited to how long he can be on the court and is match up dependent.

I would have been fine drafting Clingan but he also is match up dependent as a center. He has rebounded and blocked shots but is a foul magnet that has been exploited defensively in some match ups.

Sheppard played one season of college basketball and is on a deep NBA team. No idea how good or bad he ends up- but comparing him to guys that played 2-4X as much in college isn’t fair.

Sheb….you are 100% correct. There were two picks for the Rockets at number 3. Clingan or trading down with Portland who offered the 7th pick and getting Edey. Portland wanted to move up badly and offered us multiple picks and we turned them down for the next Curry (or more likely Kerr). Rockets lost their logic and fell for the overnight hype of Sheppard (ignoring his NCAA tournament flop). We lost out on two massive 7 footers that will cost us when playing the Spurs and teams like the Celtics two nights ago.

That's just how everything is in the draft. No matter the experience. Reed should have stayed in school.

Clearly he made the right decision for himself. He was the third pick in the draft.

Which is true, but he probably wishes he was the 4th pick instead... at least right now.

I don't agree, we shouldn't compare Reed to guys who are more developed but Castle is playing good in S.A and he is the same age as Reed.

Not putting any of the players down because I know they are all young but if Reed could just show SOMETHING! Anything positive to hang his hat on.

However, I said I'm going to withhold my judgment until the end of the sason.

    1. They aren't more developed, they are just getting more playing time.

    2. Castle is playing like ****... he's just playing a lot and taking a lot of shots.

At some point you'll have to learn that high volume does not equal good.

Shouldn’t pick a college drop out! Battier wouldn’t agree.

Just like many others have said, he needs some G league time. Surprised why it hasn't happened already.

Yep, almost every lottery pick aside from Edey and Clingan is shooting around 40% or only scoring 5 or 6 points a game. This draft class is looking historically bad, like 2000 bad.

He hasn’t looked so bad in the past couple of games. Keep it up Reed!

Castle may end up being the better player - I wouldn’t be shocked that the 4th pick ends up better than the 3rd pick.

As for Castle - he is in a better situation than Sheppard and has his own struggles… he is shooting 16% from 3, 39% from field and 60% from the line the last month …. So he has struggled.

As for Reed, he hasn’t done a lot. I was told he is on the roster and up because he has done very well in practice. At some point I would just like to see him get consistent minutes, if not here then in the NBDL

If you want "something" he shows some flashes here and there. In his last run of garbage time minutes there was a sequence where he made a really nice strip, quickly got the ball down the court, and hit Cam with a perfect pass in stride to get him to the line. He also nearly forced another strip with quick hands and anticipation. Almost everyone in the league can make a nice play here and there, so I'm not saying you can get too excited about that, but in his limited minutes I don't see him as a Fultz, Bennett, Thabeet, etc. who immediately looked like they would have a hard time hanging around the league. His shot mechanics look pretty good and he misses like a good shooter. It's not a certainty it will come around, but there's reason to be optimistic it will. In his limited minutes he also has negatives beyond just normal 20 year old rookie struggle stuff like when he had Tillman iso'ed, seemingly could have gotten by him or created space for a jumper, and just decided to pass it off after a couple of crossovers. Really want to see him be more aggressive with those limited opportunities.

You forgot #3 which is Devin Carter contributing to a blowout win tonight with 13 and 7 in 23 minutes.

Steve Nash and Goran Dragic are two exciting whites who both took several years to start putting up numbers. Reed has a similar game and could follow a similar path to developing confidence and assertiveness. The story is still being written with Reed... and because the team is competing for the playoffs and has a veteran PG, he's not in the perfect position right now to get playing time. Patience is required for him to break out of his shell.

The only thing that makes sense is that Reed is killing it in practice, which of course none of us can see. There has to be some reason why he is still up, and that could be exactly it. Not getting any minutes isn't good for a guy his age though. He needs to be playing somewhere.

It's impossible to tell if this is sarcasm. It's possible you responded to me laughing about someone else being impressed by volume rather than quality by praising a 50% TS% performance unironically... but it works better as a joke.
