Here you go. This should keep you Reedlings quiet for the rest of the day. Wow! He looked scared back then.
Maybe Rockets FO is afraid to send Reed to G League bc if he underperforms it will tank his trade value.
How many top picks have u seen get sent down to the G-League? And not just to get a few games under their belt as they return from injury like Amen, but because they just genuinely suck and “need confidence?”
To be fair Reed probably got drafted to one of the worst team situation you could be in for a young lottery pick that needs development time. He got drafted to a good team that already has a plethora of young talent that needs development time. Worst type of situation to get drafted unless you are generational draft pick like Wemby or Luka who will stand out no matter what situation.
He was supposed to provide shooting which se desperately needed. Its not like we have anyone ahead of him if his shooting was as advertised he would've been getting 20 mpg easy. Thats why GMs picked him as the ROY favorite even if he was gonna come from fhe bench. He got put on a team with no pressure to show out and he even has a mentor in FVV and young peers who can relate to him. The team welcomed him with open arms and Ime gave him PT over CM Whitmore dont act like its a Darko situation.
Didn't you watch how he played in the summer league. Summer league players are at similar level of the g-leaguers.
Wow, he looks better than Steph Curry. Do you think the Warriors will deal Curry for Curry 2.0 (Reed Sheppard)?
Players tend to look great in Summer League, G League and settings without much game plans. Old song.
Yes and no......His SL debut was mixed bag....they just did not include the low light. I do think 18-8 is feasible down there.
So he’s gonna average less than Chuck Hayes did in g league. Great. This will surely transition him into a rotational nba player.
I don't think this is worth debating much because it was apparent before the draft that people either didn't watch Reed in college or didn't know what they were looking at....and it appears not much has changed.... He's been pretty much the same player he's shown himself to be other than the shooting not being lights out. He's not a gunner. He's more of a pure point guard, and probably the most pure point that we have on the team. It's not his game to come in and be a gunner for 3 min spurts. If you look at his college film, he played the same way...Dillingham and Reeves were the guys who were high usage, breaking down the defense...looking for their offense. Over the course of a game when Reed plays long enough the ball finds him...he picks his spots...He gives the ball up early and when he has teammates that move it and find him again he gets good shots. When he played summer league and he was given the keys to fully run the offense, he shined. His playmaking, ability to score and ability to get teammates the ball shined. With the Rockets he's not given the keys. There's usually at least 3 players on the court that take precedence as far as initiating the offense. Should he be more aggressive? Probably. Only because that's the role the Rockets have him in right now. He doesn't have the luxury of playing tons of minutes and being able to find his way. The only way he's going to make an impact in his current role and potentially earn more minutes is to up his aggression. But I've got no doubt that if this was year one or two of the rebuild and he was on a bad team and allowed to just go out and play 30+ a night he'd show a lot more. Which is also why I don't think it's really fair to compare him to picks from earlier in the rebuild. He's the only PG only prospect and he's coming into a better team where his minutes are magnified and he's not being given a ton of minutes to bump his head and get comfortable. Either way, I don't think it's that big of a deal. He's not in the regular rotation right now and Holiday and Cam are playing ahead of him.
Feels like I’m watching Ben Simmons. Just shoot the ball sir. He should stop worrying about missing he only needs to go 2-12 to be a starter on this team.
How many top picks come in to deep teams that are one of the top teams in the NBA? There's been tons of awful busts that have been terrible but have continued to play for their NBA team just because the team wasn't going anywhere and they were bad anyways. Rookie Scoot Henderson isn't getting 30 mins a night on this team like he did in Portland. And he was considered a MUCH better prospect. He'd probably be glued to the bench also. Cam Whitmore who actually showed a lot last season IN NBA GAMES at only 18/19 was sent to the gleague because HE couldn't get on the court for this team.
Depends on the team, in the GLeague as with Summer League, I believe 2 years ago the Cavs were the Summer League Champs and Cam Whitmore could not stat pad.......it was an intense game.... That Cam Whitmore was the Summer League MVP I think that year. Sam Merrill out of that bunch made the Cavs rotation. https://www.espn.com/nba-summer-league/boxscore/_/gameId/401558308/league/nba-summer-las-vegas
Have you seen how bad he looks out on the floor now? That will carry on into the G for a while if/when he goes down.
If someone else calls Reed a pure point guard I am going to pure vomit. The only thing that is pure about Reed now is the pure fear that he has of professional basketball.
