As much as i think JG is overrated i thought it was good that Ime let JG run the offence and try something different in the second half. It was obvious they wanted JG to initiate the offence more as primary in that second half, you could see FVV and Sengun deferring to JG for taking the ball up the court, seems like it's working. Unforunately i didnt see the first half, but i imagine it was FVV initiating the offence. Might need to see a few more games where JG is given the primary and see the results. I especially liked that they were running the PNR between FVV and JG, i actually feel like this combination is more effective, for some reason the PNR just doesnt work between Sengun and JG.
If you can just tell me what makes makes those players great passers, I can tell you why I think Jalen is a poor one. You're the one who says there's no metric that says Jalen is a poor passer. I am simply asking you to provide metrics that says LeBron is a great passer. Whatever metrics you use, check that same metric on Jalen and see how he fares.
If that were true, we would have been getting calls on him that were more serious. The league has had a chance to evaluate him for 3.5 seasons, and in league circles Jalen does not really have a lot of value. Jalen even knows this, otherwise he would not have taken a 3-year deal, he would have waited until Free Agency and taken a 5-year super max from another team, but there likely would be no such deal this summer, his value is not of a young super star.
Cam is bigger, stronger, faster, and more skilled. Open up the competition for playing time and watch Cam blow by Jalen. DD
Jalen played 624 possessions without Alpi on the floor this season (unless you say Alpi was "clogging the paint from the bench", that should have given Jalen all the freedom to operate you asked for). Even if you say, ok, but Jock or Steven Adams was in the way, just let Jalen play without any center, that's still 202 possessions. Result is the same - the Rockets sucked and had a negative plus/minus with Jalen on and Alpi/other centers off. Conversely, with Alpi on and Jalen off, in 543 possessions, the Rockets are +18.9 (which would be the best point differential in the league). See the actual data below. For good measure, here are the updated On/Off stats for the entire season, after 33 games, for all Rockets players.
Jalen is quicker. Cam has both an NBA body and game. Cam was likely a better player as a rookie than Jalen, but was “unfortunate” in who his HC was and had to earn his PT versus how Jalen was gifted his. I suspect going forward Cam gets increased PT at the 2/3, as Tari will be in and out of the lineup and Amen will be getting some minutes at the 1. The future Rockets 1-2-3 may very well be Amen, Jalen an Cam. We will see.
You made me look up our players' speed lol. https://www.nba.com/stats/players/speed-distance?TeamID=1610612745&dir=D&sort=AVG_SPEED I could only get average speed, not top speed - but still mildly interesting. One observation: Dillon is the only one who runs faster on defense than on offense... And Reed might be our fastest player!
While I was looking at Cleaningtheglass, I remembered that someone made a comment here saying that Cam and Jalen seem to be playing well together. This seems to indeed be the case this season (small sample size warning, but close to 100 possessions). Maybe that double-headed monster of athletes running at you could be the offensive equivalent of the "terror twins" on defense?
No, I’m simply pointing out that certain critiques are not coming from a genuine place. Sorry, you’re too dense to understand that.
Fred: no problem playing along side Sengun Dillon: no problem playing along side Sengun Jabari: no problem playing along side Sengun Tari: no problem playing along side Sengun Amen: no problem playing along side Sengun Cam: no problem playing along side Sengun Holiday: no problem playing along side Sengun Tate: no problem playing along side Sengun Jeff: no problem playing along side Sengun Reed: no problem playing along side Sengun Jalen: problem playing along side Sengun Jalen dick suckers(there’s 5-10 of them): Sengun is the problem. Trade Sengun. Silas’ fault Ime’s fault Sengun’s fault Fred’s fault Porter Jr.’s fault Wall’s fault Wood’s fault Toyota Center’s fault Two guys who have had everything handed to them, never had to earn **** (and no surprise it’s the two biggest disappointments): Jalen and Jabari Cam: go earn your minutes Amen: go earn your minutes Reed: go earn your minutes Sengun: go earn your minutes Tari: go earn your minutes Christopher: go earn your minutes Garuba: go earn your minutes TyTy: go earn your minutes
Looking at the on/off numbers, Jalen and Jabari are unfortunately the ones among the heavy minute rotation players with the worst on/off. But we are winning overall, so...
I don't know how they measure these things. Probably how fast they play, not how fast they can run. But still, I can't believe Reed is faster than Amen, Jock is faster than Jalen, and Adams is faster than FVV.
