I noticed that as well. I am assuming it’s because prior to acquiring Cam Smith, we didn’t have any top 100 prospects outside of Melton.
Former Astros related, but I met Pat Listach today. Was working my second job (whee) and recognized the name on the receipt. Asked if it was him, he said yes. Talked for a couple of minutes, said he was probably going to coach in the White Sox org. for a year or two then calling it a career. Really nice guy based on our limited interaction.
Hector isn’t always right on these things… but he does have a pretty good pulse on the Latin American market
And that Carlos Baerga was connecting Santander with Astros a few times. But is he well connected? He went from Astros(after Tucker trade) to saying Yankees, then back to a few other teams which included the Astros once again. Interesting that Santander was looking for 5 years but is he only getting 4 year offers?
I don’t see the Astros wanting to live with a RF with a below average arm. Pedro Leon is said to have a cannon, so the Astros might give Leon some run in RF and see if his bat comes around.
I really dont care what others think, the Stros have had a top 5 ROY candidate for the last 5 years or more. I'll trust the Stros developmental staff over what a guy like Law thinks. Personally I like the Stros top 5-6 prospects as much as anybody's. Smith Matthews Blubaugh Baez Brito Melton Gusto
I'm thinking they will trade for a young cheap OF in addition to Santander if the rumors Nook put out there come to fruition. Didn't Santander play RF last year?
Agree but my top 5-6 prospects are a little different. Cam Smith Anderson Brito Jacob Melton* Ethan Pecko Walker Janek Luis Baez
