Ah yes, another fan who thinks the goal is to be 3rd in the West in January....

    What a ridiculous take.

Let’s be real, Reed has so far been pretty bad. I think he will figure it out but right now, it is clear he is having a difficult time adjusting to the speed of the NBA. This is the reason he shows hesitation and a lack of confidence. He’s still learning how to recognize and process the split second decisions needed to excel at this level. Yes, he needs more playing time to gain the necessary experience but since the team is playing at a high level Ime can’t afford to give him the necessary playing time until he can trust that reed wont be a minus to winning.

For now it’s best he keeps riding the bench, learning from the vets, and going hard in practice. Idk but it doesn’t seem like he can learn anything in G League. He is already a highly intelligent and skilled player and probably won’t pick up anything valuable.

The goal is progress. And we have progressed greatly since Ime took over — it’s night and day. Most of our young dudes have progressed as well. Reed will too, I’d wager, if he’s patient.

Nobody is saying the goal is to be 3rd in the west in January, they are just using it as a shorthand to show how much progress we have made in the 1.3(ish) years since Ime has taken over.

You are being disingenuous and purposely missing the point (par for the course for you) because you would rather berate a good coach and those who don’t think he’s an idiot just because he hasn’t handed minutes on a platter to Reed.

Do you ever get tired of being the way you are? It must be exhausting. Do you even enjoy watching sports or do you just use it as a way to get angry and (mistakenly) feel superior to others?

    Sad deal

The "progress" is contingent on guys that have no future here that we can't win with.... that's not real progress.

We're not winning anything with FVV and Dillon Brooks.

Ime's goal is short term just winning individual games the future be damned. You and Ime can celebrate being 3rd place in the West in January, but the way he coaches there will be no playoff success.

    That's my problem with it.

You been to practice? You think Udoka was just throwing him in games because he likes short white guys?

Reed can play, and he definitely doesn’t lack dawg.

    Patience. Rookie. Etc.

The idea of "developing guys" while you are a top 3 team in the conference, coinciding with a planned timeline to compete (RIGHT NOW), is beyond stupid. There isn't a spot in the rotation for Reed right now.

Sure, Fred needs to be playing less, everyone thinks so. But there are plenty of guys ahead of Reed in line to play those minutes (notably Amen). Also Tari, Cam, and others. Implying Ime is a bad coach because of this, especially after the Silas **** show, is rich. He has completely turned the culture of this team around. Reed was the 9th man in the rotation for a majority of the season and he did next to nothing with those minutes, its absolutely warranted to play him zero minutes right now. He stinks.

I agree, he should be in the G-League. Cam is back to himself after his stint down there. Having Reed suck on the court or the bench with the big club does no good, so he should be with the Vipers, getting shots in.

I am going to need you to clarify. We aren't going to win with them in starting roles or we aren't going to win with them on the team? I could see an argument for the former, but the latter would be ridiculous. Hell, Fred already has a ring and he was a contributor on that team.

We aren't winning with a team based around FVV and Brooks playing 40 minutes.... essentially Ime's go to.

That's why I'm not impressed by "doesn't matter Brian, 3rd in the West in January, Brian" type BS.

The current Rockets are not competing against good teams right now, that's why the most important thing should be the future. Either trading for an actual star or developing the young guys.
