As with every single headline-grabbing FBI "bust" I have to wonder how much of this was them radicalizing someone and providing them with everything to carry out this act that otherwise would have never happened, versus them just being vigilant and finding a real threat for violence and preventing that violence from being carried out.

I remember when things like accountability mattered….

Conservatives would rather blame the FBI than Trump or individuals for Jan6. Getting the same type of vibes here

Kinda like finding some guy with the biggest stockpile of handmade biological weapons ever found and saying he had no intent to kill people with them.

I actually don't remember those times. FBI, for example, was never held to account for radicalizing young, disillusioned Muslim men and then arresting them and getting headlines made about how they stopped another Islamic terrorist plot.

But yeah it sure would be nice if accountability was a thing in the security state. I would like that.

Similar story from the Jan 6 defendants and their supporters of the election lie .....

I find it interesting how some folks love cops but hate the FBI when really it's just how you view government (more state rights vs anti federal govt).

You think the FBI radicalized this guy?

I don't know who loves cops and hates the FBI. I assume you're implying that description (and the conservative label) applies to me. You would be mistaken.

I actually don't love or hate either police or the FBI. I am skeptical of both.

I think it's not outrageous to suggest it's a possibility. I'll wait to see. It's a troubling event no matter what the circumstances are, but I am hesitant to praise the FBI given their history and incentives.

If the FBI radicalized this guy and waited all these years to arrest him - first letting him build an arsenal for an army - that would be disturbing. My understanding is that someone informed on him to the FBI and that's how they discovered him. This is less about the FBI and that a guy was doing this at all. That's what actually troubles me.

You do realize you're arguing with a Trumpaholic?

Glad Brad Spafford hasn't hurt anyone (other then himself apparently).

If he was violating federal or state laws by manufacturing these IEDS, he should face the consequences.

Not the first, nor the last, isolated rural nutter doing this type of ish.

There have been several posts including in clutchfans who have said that the FBI should be defunded or even disbanded. Some of these same people have defended LEO in regard to killings of George Floyd and others.

Kash Patel has said that he would greatly diminish the FBI.

Yes the FBI does have a history of enticing and even paying suspect. Are you aware of this happening in this case?

Also given that we just had a terrorist attack in NOLA shows why the FBI is active and that perhaps things like finding 150 IEDs shouldn’t be just dismissed or downplayed.

I wouldn't automatically think that the FBI radicalized and entrapped this guy. From my experience with my Trumpy side of the family, they respect police but are very wary and distrustful of the FBI.

I'm skeptical of both cops and federal law enforcement, but more for the reason it's just part of the human condition to have abuse of power.

Pretending to be dumb and making a remark like this just to get a reaction is pretty pathetic even coming from you. Be better

    Better way to respond:

I'm glad they found this nutjob before he caused any harm.

It really isn't that hard to pretend you care. Your initial response to this is disappointing.
