Its amazing how Adam Silver ignores the legends who got the game to where it is for $$$$$$$$$$

It’s amazing how many old heads **** on the game and go along with this toxic negativity that is NBA and ESPN coverage.

There have always been copy-cat teams and offenses, but I have to agree that guys missing threes is quite boring. There needs to be one on one matchups, ball movement, and fast breaks to give the game and it's characters some identity.

Instead of stars developing -the NBA decides who is marketable and not marketable and who gets calls and who doesn’t

this combined with other favoritism to big market teams / consistently throwing the same teams repeatedly on TV / and the lazy jacking of 3s has watered the NBA down

Unoriginal or creative offenses, heavily populated by youngsters who haven't ever played (or maybe a year) in a structured system and had a chance to grow up a bit (ie college), plus "look at me" social media culture where team basketball is not the main focus

These are just thoughts off the top of my head.

The talent is as good or better than it ever was, there's just not much refinement of said talent or harnessing of it.

AAU ball instead of traditional HS , G-league and other leagues vs 3-4 years in a college system

it’s been one of my big gripes about the NBA … folks drafting teenagers who haven’t learned the basics and then expecting instant results.

Number 1 options who always had ball in hands and rhythm players who are now 2-3-4th options asked to do things they’ve never attempted before reaching NBA

I'm not saying I'm right or anything, but as a former rabid NBA fan who has gradually backslid into casual status (the Rox are doing good to bring me back), this is just what I notice.

well Zeke, I feel like the likes of Jalen & Sengun and Thompson are pretty unique styles compared across the league.. as well as even Udoka’s coaching style.. the skirmish felt like a shift or new era, I mean, it already is ..after knocking out GS in the tourney cup but, I have not seen this happen in rocket years before . A rocket player throwing a punk opposing player near the team’s bench

I keep hearing everybody repeat the notion that today's players are more skilled. And then I'm wondering who in today's game skills wise are on the level of: Bird, Magic, Jordan, Olajuwon - signature players the of the 80s and 90s?
Jordan and Olajuwon were better athletes, Bird and magic had much more flair than anyone today - plus their passion to compete never wavered even for a moment - that made turning on the TV exciting. If players are better today, wonder why fans don't feel that way anymore?

yokich is like all of them (minus miguel) combined into 1 person. plus from the 10-20s, we have lerbon, kirby, derk, dunkin, katie, stef.

i guess everyone is just so used to better players now that it's boring. the game has maxed out and needs new rules to shake things up. needs moar euros tbh.

Yes, Jokic is unique and unmatched, like the past greats were unmatched. But the four I mentioned had superior athleticism and flair. In this era imo only Steph and Kobe had that kind of entertainment value, but MJ magic & Bird are still far ahead.
I suggest let's watch the ultimate mixtapes of the four to refresh your memories, all four are a tier above the modern guys you named, in terms of skills, athleticism, flair, competitiveness, ie what makes the game exciting.

If the league has yet to find a Jordan replacement, then how are players today more skilled?
The thing is since the rule changes and the lack of Shaqs in the league anymore, teams no longer need to have bruisers on the team anymore. So if you compare 3rd tier players, today's teams are signing 3rd tier wings instead of brute centers. This is the biggest reason that gave way to the "players are more skilled today" myth. TV viewers watch the best players, they don't watch 3rd tier guys. (Except fights and protectors are actually more entertaining ;)

And even with better training, diet, international pool etc today, who's doing the kinds of things these 80s dudes were doing? And they used always go all out and compete, there's no off days. For reference, MJ's 48" vertical is the highest ever in NBA. Isn't it it daft to claim today's players are better?

Why would anyone listen to Isiah Thomas on anything other than sexual harassment, hair dye & plastic surgery

Of course its a terrible product, they turned it into glorified AAU ball. No bball IQ, lackluster defensive effort, super teams, inmates running the asylum, all that fun stuff.

Isiah should try watching some teams other than his Pistons.

He might see the product isn't quite so bad....
