Whatever “Joc” says… the guy wouldn’t even be in the line up in game 1 of a series against us because he doesn’t face lefties… hard to be scared of a guy that sits against big boy pitching.
Thought this was interesting from Athletic: Per sources, Arenado was willing to revisit the Astros after further clarity developed in his market (namely, Alex Bregman signing). However, the Astros pivoted quickly and signed first baseman Christian Walker to a three-year, $60 million deal just days after.
I’m starting to come around more to giving Taylor Trammell a shot as the strong side of a LF platoon (paired with Meyers or Dubon). He projects to be a league average bat against RHP with plus LF defense, and his platoon partner would provide an above average bat against LHP, also with plus defense. Trammell came up with a Brett Gardner comp; he is not going to be that good as he strikes out far more than Gardner, but he still could be a decent player. Houston is going to need to add a really good bat for the other open OF spot beside McCormick, but if they do, Trammell in the 7 hole against RHP will be just fine for a few months. If he doesn’t work out, it is likely that someone from AAA (Melton, Dezenzo, Whitcomb, Leon, Corona, Matthews, Hamilton) will be ready for a callup to take his place.
The Astros were smart. They could not wait and see what a Boras client (Bregman) and a flake (Arenado) would do. They got a player that wanted to play for the Astros - that contributes with the bat and glove and is still in his prime.
Winker would be my choice. Can anyone here talk me out of Winker as an option? Seems like a good fit but I could be missing something.
I bet they trade with the O's/Crads or Red Sox to find the OF bat they're looking for. Robert is a longshot.
He's a colossal jackass. He has such a poor attitude Seattle chose to send him home rather than have him play against us in the ALDS in 2022, and that's with king of jackasses Scott Servais as his manager...says a lot right there.
His teammates in Seattle absolutely hated him, they called him out - claimed he was soft and they had zero respect for him…. It was so bad they had to trade him. He is known as not being a consistent hard worker- but is viewed as a naturally gifted hitter. As far as I know he doesn’t have any criminal issues - doesn’t have a history of any domestic problems and didn’t really start issues with his teammates- it was more that he was the last on and first off the practice field and didn’t really like playing hurt… at a low salary, I can handle that…. Also most is his bad reputation is from his last year with the Reds and his year in Seattle… the Mets traded for him last year and have said they have some interest in getting him back. Astros are trying to trade for a bat under team control and move some salary to target a free agent bat and pitcher…. No guarantee that happens but that is what they are working on….
