seems like you must be concerned, you've posted this tweet in two separate threads. Best of luck tamping down the panic on edit: no sarcasm.
I am unconcerned, but I feel equally sorry for the one actual Sengunatic on Twitter and for those who see Sengunatics everywhere. Their level of delusion on this particular topic is comparable.
I thought you were a big fan of the yaya guy . . . the only time I ever heard about him was when you were re-tweeting his Rockets takes in the GARM
Re-tweet not an endorsement. He might be right sometimes, but the level of emotional attachment appears unhealthy.
I think the coaches are trying to get Big Turk mad just for him to play harder. He might be a guy that plays better when he is mad.
Also, we got new for you people, we lost. And the Bam matchup may be something to do in what happened last night. So if you watched the game and dont think we have room for improvement, we saw different games. I love his game, but if he wants to be the centerpiece of a winning NBA team, he cant take possessions off and he has to be more physical and have command of the painted area. You cant defend the paint with all the pretty numbers we like, it is done with physicality.
Let's be fair. Royal Ivey is not wrong. Alpy is far too talented to be fiddling around the way he does. If he gets breathed on, he throws himself on the floor, then does his stupid hand complaint to the officials. No surprise he gets no calls, he is a non-stop crybaby. And I love Alpy (and no, I don't like Jalen, he is a horrible chucker). Get more physical. Get the cold hard edge and put the defender to the sword. THEN start complaining, and he'll get all the calls. Alpy has all the tools, he just needs to get his head in the game and play more direct and more quickly. He looks to have stalled from last year, and even gone a little backwards in terms of decision making - these coaches want him to succeed, and being physical is a part of it.
You must have missed this part so I'll help you out, this was a halftime interview. This was not at the end of the game. This was when Sengun was 7/7 from the field with more rebounds (both offensive and defensive) than Bam. It's definitely a very weird thing to say given the circumstances.
Alperen is the kind of guy that needs kicks in the ass. Udoka and staff need to keep kicking his ass to be great. He will respond. Franchise cornerstone. Inevitable.
Three things can be true: - Sengun plays soft at times. - our coaches are extra hard on him because they’ve fallen for the Europeans are soft image, even if Sengun rarely displays it. - it’s easy to focus on this when as a coaching staff you are not self aware and do not see the bigger issues.
“Keep chucking. I like the chucks they’ve taken. We need them to keep getting chucks up if we want to have a shot. And Alperen, he needs to rebound these chucks and kick it back out so we can keep chucking.”
Yes, Ivey has talked that way about Jalen publicly - back when he was sitting out whole 4th quarters. The reporter asked him a question and he gave her a direct answer. Ivey is blunt like that but that's what the players like about him. Royal was pretty much a trailblazer in the NBA. He played for 4 different teams and I think he was only a starter in Atlanta. A non-starting point/shooting guard averaging 1 rebound every 10 mins sounds about right. FVV averages 3.5 and plays 35+ mins/game. Even if he started for all 4 teams, most guards don't grab many rebounds. I don't believe Sengun's getting picked on, but he's more finesse than physical. If the coaching staff prefers someone out there more physical for matchup purposes then they should have given Adams more minutes. The reporter could have also asked her questions differently. She asked what Sengun needs to do to win the battle then followed up with asking what he liked about Adams. If she asked what he "liked" about Sengun, I think his response would have been different. He probably said the same thing to Sengun in the locker room. He's a defensive minded coach. To me his response was more of a lack of respect for Miami and Bam. Dude is an All-Star for a reason and they have the better coach. "We let them get 50." That's a little too cocky for me being Miami has beaten the Rockets 8 or 9 times in a row. Some assistant coaches never become head coaches because of how they talk to the media. He's probably going to be one of them.
But Sengun could not score when the game mattered. And the team lost. This was clear to me, I did not find it relevant. Is your point that coaches are harsher with Sengun? He has the potential and the extension to be a Max player, so he should expect this and more.
