Well, the thing is it can be about both. That doesn't refs are WHY we lost, but certainly a contributing factor. Its like if I'm speeding 20 over the limit through the green light of an intersection, and someone runs a red light and hits me... they're definitely at fault sure, but my speed not only contributed to the accident happening, but was a part of the extent of the damage. Why we lost? Our own deficiencies. Did the refs contribute and take it into their hands at the end? Yeah. It didn't feel like the teams decided the actual final outcome. Before that 5sec call (which appears to not actually be legit on start and stop of the game) this was still a winnable game. Make a shot, defend, have one more possession, absolutely within reach. I believe we deserved that opportunity to win (or lose lol) on our own, but instead the chance wasn't given and I think we easily could have been served that timeout. Did we need to be better? Yup. Don't put yourself in that position. The stripes had an impact on the game though, and it wasn't just that last minute but thats the egregious part lol.
Sengunians: It’s the other guys [fault] stupid! Surround him with shooters, watch him/the offense thrive! Greenies: It’s Sengun (and Fred) stupid! Clear the lane, pick up the pace and watch this team full of young athletes (not just Jalen) take off! Round and round we go. Fred & Sengun show: Spoiler
The Judoka move by Amen was cool but the refs surely did not command him to toss Herro's arse. It was his own decision and I am sure he owns up to it.
Amen shouldn't be suspended, he should be featured in commercials to get casuals interested in the game again. This guy is intense, passionate, and can throw 6'5", 195 lbs. guys around like pillows. The league was most popular when everyone was ready to throw hands at a moment's notice.
I think three games for Amen could be balanced against one game for Herro. Herro grabbed him first and probably added some choice words for good measure. If Herro gets a pass then I think Amen should get two games max, one game ideally.
If you have an elite ISO talent, yes. Curry gets tons of plays ran for him. Pops never handed it to Duncan and said “bring us home” he was always running multi pass plays for the big 3. Adelman constantly ran plays for us that generated good looks for non elite talent. We don’t have a Luka or Harden ISO god, Ime needs to adjust already. He’s working with Kmart and Scola not Tatum and Brown.
I think this is very well said. I’m glad Brooks Is shooting well this season but I don’t want to be reliant on him the last stretch and the fourth quarter. Why have Amen out there the last few minutes and completely freeze him out of the offense? No cutting no motion, no positive impact from him whatsoever. I would rather them give him the ball and see what he can create compared to what we have gotten used to. Jabari Smith pick and pop? Or maybe just let him shoot a turnaround jumper? He can get that open anytime he wants. It is very easy to shut down the Fred and Al P PnR at the end of the game when both Are exhausted in the defense knows what is coming. Green had a couple open shots, And it is bothering me more and more that he refuses to just turn the corner and go to the rim. The refs sucked but I’m beginning to concur with those that advocate that Green/FVV wont work. Id rather FVV play SG and we deal for Fox.
Im done with the 3Q now . Adams was horrific defensively. We missed Tari or Tate , im suprised Jock didnt get a go ? maybe he was out too . Jalen has a nice streak of made shots, but also was almost as bad as Adams on D
Herro's postgame speech with the shades was just too over top. He channeled all sorts of "Drexl by Gary Oldman". I now think that their spat was just an honest mistake. Amen getting insulted by Herro's attempt at ebonics, and Herro really honestly thinking it was White Boy Day.
The Houston Rockets ran 38 pick-and-rolls at Bam Adebayo tonight. That's a season high for any team, including a season high 15 screens in the 4th Q. Houston scored 0.41 points-per on those actions vs. Bam, 0.22 in the 4th Q. Some coaches do it to draw out the switch and run a secondary action away from Bam once he’s pulled out, but didn’t seem to be the case in Houston. Was a little perplexing watching live. THis is the concern about Udoka's offense and the reason we are getting cooked in close games. The biggest concern is that we are not able to run anything under pressure, we dont even launch a good shot.
No common sense in Ime Udoka that Bam Adebayo is literally the best in Lateral Quickness on Defense and Shot Blocking. How many times are you going to fail to realize you can't go through him or run past him in pick and rolls, Fastest Center in the League. Alperen Sengun can't even back him down in the post. Bam is a Powerlifter in every sense Honestly I am worried about this Coaching Staff Offensive IQ spamming Fred VanVleet and Alperen Sengun pick and roll over and over. Fred VanVleet injuries and being scared to run past Bam Adebayo was next to impossible.
