Two shooters UNDER 27% from 3 and one guy who has a mystery benign growth on his leg that seems to keep popping up are going to be the "future" LOL "we'll draft a generational shooter to put around them" LOL "we'll just trade for a superstar without using them as filler and instead include the guys we have deemed a bust in our infinite basketball knowledge because we are smarter than NBA GMs" LOL Newsflash to all the Jr GMs ---- the star that will lead this team to meaningful wins is not on this roster and NOBODY will be untouchable in those negotiations.
He could be the best wing defender in the entire NBA right now. Add to that he is a killer in transition, he hits the glass at a high level for his role, and he is starting to showcase an ability to get to the rim and either score or get fouled at will - I mean, he is as untouchable as they come. I think you underestimate just how good he is defensively and how his defensive play creates opportunities for his team to score.
The Heat already had that game won, barring somebody pulling a T-Mac. We lost the game when we decided to brick 3 after 3 after 3 once we were in control of the game. We had a 7 point lead with 8 minutes to go. We scored 2 points over the next 8 minutes. We went 1-16 (0-10 from 3) over that time period. Most of those shots weren't even close to going in. It was brutal. The one we made was a layup by Brooks because he actually drove it to the basket. For a team that is 2nd from last in terms of 3 point shooting %, that is way too many 3s. It was stupid, and he will get suspended, which will hurt, especially if Eason continues to be out.
The "best wing defender in the entire NBA right now" got smoked by Tyler Herro who last made an all-star team never. But please do get carried away.
But he didn't. Amen wasn't the primary defender on him for the vast majority of the points he scored. He got beat by Herro once last night.
Shooters like Herro can get hot no matter who's guarding them anyway. It's almost impossible to fully defend a movement shooter when he has it going. I know he is not liked here (for good reason, he's an *sshole and he's soft on defense), but he's not some scrub--he's averaging 24, 6, and 5 on 48% / 41% shooting.
If not, then why not? It's not like he had to guard Jimmy Butler. Maybe he was tired from shutting down Ant the previous game... except that didn't happen either. So what exactly is the value "best wing defender in the entire NBA right now" if he can't at least slow down the best wings in the game? Again, I believe that Amen has a lot of value, but he's far from untouchable. Tony Allen was, in fact, the best wing defender in the NBA for years, but no one ever considered him untouchable as an asset.
Amen is also one of the most athletic players in the NBA right now and it shows in his ability to be highly efficient on offense despite still being a poor shooter. No player is completely untouchable in trades unless they're like, a strong MVP candidate who still wants to play for your team--but some players are practically untouchable because it would be too difficult to get enough value back. It's not really the defense that puts Amen into the latter category, it's the potential to become a two-way star over the next few years, which will be tremendously valuable if he can pull it off.
did you even watch the game? of Herro's 17 attempts 4 of which Amen was guarding him. He only made 1 out of 4 25% The 13 shots others were guarding him
Because the defense they played was more of a zone defense. No one player was matched against another for the whole game. And he didn't say he was the best right now, but that he could be. And it is hard to disagree watching Amen play defense. He's impressive on and off the ball and has so much versatility.
did you even watch the game? so Amen had to make sure he had to sub himself in every second Herro was on the court? Half of Herro's made shots Amen wasn't even on the floor. And Herro made 1 out of 4 with Amen guarding him
I'm not even sure he got beat that one time. I distinctly remember the one play that probably started the fight to being with. Herro drives to paint and hits Amen with an elbow and somehow the refs called a foul on Amen instead of an offensive foul. Still wondering why Ime didn't challenge ,
Are you really this dense? We had Amen on herro but you don't think Miami would run plays and picks to get him switched onto another defender? That's literally what the nba is now a days. Picks for days until you find a more favorable matchup. No one in their right mind would attack Amen one on one.
Furious Jam is the new BTG except with Amen instead of Jalen. If you enjoy tweeking their idiocy, like I do, keep it up. If not, put them on ignore.
I do like it when you cry about your boy playing poorly... you know, just like everyone has been telling you for years. It's in no way similar to false criticism about players who are actually good like Amen... but i don't expect people like you to understand that.
I don't know why I'm said to be crying about Amen playing poorly when I acknowledged he played poorly. It couldn't be for years about Amen since he has barely played over a year's worth of games. If you are talking about Jalen, I have been critical of him, just not obsessed like you. When people say Reed played poorly you cry like a baby. Your response to anything is I am smart, you are not. I don't put you on ignore, because I enjoy making fun of you.
