Time to make some deals. At least some that makes the team marginally better. Stone can't hide behind development and asset retention forever. This isn't a team that's going to get marginally better as time goes on. Sure, they'll improve I hope but Jalen has massive flaws. Sengun's jumper is about 3 years away. Amen isn't there offensively. Reed is about 4 years away from being a backup. Tari can't stay healthy. Jabari is who he is. This isn't Shai, Jalen Williams and Chet. Either go all in or make some moves to help the team out.
Jalen can go in the offseason but FVV has got to go. We are losing games because of our chucking guards who can't hit ****. We do everything else right and lose because our guards are shooting no better than 1/3. I'm not even talking about the turnovers or the stupid shot selection that kills drives. This isn't smart basketball. We have the pieces to build a smart team around D but cannot do that with stupid guard play. Those 37 shots could have been better distributed and instead of hitting 12 of them we would have hit 20 and won comfortably.
Our C had 5 TOs and is prone to giving up 3pt plays - that hurt us also tonight Every player on this team has it flaws - our most massive is PG - FVV has to go, the right piece will help all our players …
Jalen for anything, literally anything. The longer he continues to be 'showcased' more teams (if they haven't caught on after nearly 3.5 seasons) will finally realise further assets will need to be attached TO Jalen just to have them take him off our hands.
We seen Stone wait till players value is at an absolute low then take whatever the next season or so after. I am hoping for more
FVV + Jalen + Jeff Green for Jimmy Butler & Terry Rozier for the rest of this season. Massive WIN NOW trade for superstar in the offseason. There are no untouchables on this roster.
kenard and sexton are realistic targets kenard should only cost us whatever second round compensation we get from tate trade not sure on sexton but sexton is a good defender much better defender than jalen i will be shocked if we trade fred if you think fred is the problem you do not understand the game fred is neither the problem nor the answer he is a game manager and was hired to do just that he has the lowest turnover rate of any starting point guard with over 1000 minutes played that is huge on this young team especially with sengun still developing sengun has to lower his turnovers as much as he needs to improve his shooting that is just facts fred would look a whole lot better with more open 3 point shots he is small needs more space to get off great looks that is not happening for a reason because opponents are giving jalen all the bombs he wants to take sexton is more of a combo guard he does turn the ball over a little too much great shooter great finisher good distributor good defender he is a fit but not in place of fred he would fit alongside fred another small that fits ime is jevon carter dude playing on a dog team but he is a dawg tenacious defender low turnovers and his shooting finally coming around he should be gettable for a second rounder garrison matthews is legit should be available for a good second
They need to go after Jalen Smith if Eason is going to be having the long 'management'. Just can't afford to not have Eason's defensive intensity. Jalen can bring a bit of that. It can't replace Eason's production but anything helps.
Trey Lyles is similar to Tari and prolly can be had. I would love Jalen Smith here, but I think Chicago recognizes that they got a solid talent on a cheap deal.
There is no doubt in my mind the Nets are trading Cam Johnson before the deadline. It's also clear what he brings to the table and multiple teams will want him. Based on listening to Sam Presti over the years, I doubt OKC will target him. He would be a great addition to the Rockets rotation even though the backcourt is what's killing the team.
You could offer them FRP-adjacent Reed Sheppard, Jock, and a future non-Suns FRP. The problem is that you would need to transfer a lot of Jalen’s inefficient shots to Cam Johnson, which this organization seems completely averse to doing.
Only way I do the FVV for LaVine thing is if they include Ayo or Coby White. White is probably unlikely. I'd pitch in a few SRPs for Dosunmu. Down shooting so far this season, but his career average is 36%.
I almost feel like they can't do anything negative to Jalen - they have to prop him up otherwise the cost of getting rid of him and that contract becomes unbearable. Some GM has to buy into him being a good player .... or else.
