Sengun is fine. The backcourt is playing like ass. 6/17 and 6/20. We only lost by 4 with this **** play
Nah! It's the refs fault those 3s don't go in or that the Rockets two "franchise players" don't respond well to physicality.
It wasn't mean to be an insult at all. Pau Gasol was an incredible player, and so is Sengun. And Sengun is very clearly the best player on our team. I'm just not sure he's got what it takes to be the franchise guy, to me he is looking more like a Robin than a Batman, he could be a great #2 on a championship roster. He's made almost no improvements in the areas (in my opinion) required to move him into the franchise player tier.
When defenses clamp down it's often hard to get the ball to post players, but Alpi isn't good at making himself a big target. Another issue is FVV flat out is not good at feeding the post. He's not really an assist guy.
For that to happen he needs a jumper and a 3 shot......but you are right without shooting he has no chances at being a true franchise Number 1.
Why do people think that acknowledging someone's shortcomings means they're a problem? There are obvious flaws in his game but he's still our best player and it's not even close.
He’s not our best player - he can be hunted on D and disappears / clamped on O … his passing game has disappeared
This is true, but even with inferior shooting there are things the coaching staff can do to make things easier for us. 1) Make Jabari or Amen responsible for post entry passes to Sengun. Either of these players will have much better passing angles than Fred. I notice Fred takes forever to make simple passes because his size makes it so easy to smother him. Amen can punish double teams on Alpi by cutting while Jabari can use his shot. 2) Prioritize Alpi when there is a favorable matchup. Fred and Jalen are both guilty of launching 3s over bigs on a switch instead of letting Alpi go to work on the smaller player. 3) CUT. KJ used to get a couple easy buckets per game just cutting along the baseline. Amen does this pretty well but Jalen and Cam should be doing this too.
He’s our most consistent player who gets fed at the rim He’s not our best player - you can Argue DB is our best player this season , Amen is our most talented player …
Amen can't score in the halfcourt unless he's being spoonfed. Stop it. I'd say he has the most potential for sure.
No objective person will argue DB is our best player. Not a single stat or metric backs that up. He is without a doubt our best player
I said talented - not scorer … if you want to say the best scorer on the team - that’s JG … Alpi is our most efficient which he should be as a C against weaker C’s but against strong centers and double teams he’s as efficient as the player you disliked (JG)
No one on the starting team is good at feeding the post - and it's not through lack of effort from Sengun to get himself open. Alpi isn't good at making himself a target I feel is a bit harsh on Alpi - if you aren't already watching him off ball and how much he is moving to try to get possession I suggest you do. 1. Fouls 2. Terrible post feeding from teammates . . . . 3. Alpi not making himself a good target. One thing I've called for is the free flowing Alpi of yesteryear - we saw that for the most part against the Timberwolves - no more mechanical backing it down as the only move. He was quick on his feet to attack the defense at the top of the perimeter and it resulted in his season high. He once again started out with quick moves and they resulted in the Alpi we all know making nifty baskets around the rim. That went away in the second half and no surprise his shot making was hindered because of it. I am mystified why the coaching staff have taken this part of his game away from him.
I dislike Jalen but my username is literally about him lol. I don’t dislike JG, I dislike his inconsistency and his broken jumper.
