Not without jumping thru the hoops of the poison pill which makes trading Jalen infinitely difficult. Essentially if you want to use Jalen in a trade, you need to wait until the offseason. You can use FVV right now .... Then use Jalen in another trade .... Later. Both of them need to go. My best offer for Fox would be FVV this year's draft pick / PHX swap top 4 protected and one of Cam / Shepard.
I'm with you. I'm no longer on that train. Everybody is just grasping at straws, because no one that meets our needs is seemingly available this year or next. That's why very mediocre guys like Fox and Booker are fetching so much attention and want so much money. We should continue to build through the draft and let our young core continue to develop. Get rid of FVv and go all in on athleticism. Use our draft capital to trade up and get a shooter that is not a midget or spend reasonable draft capital for stop gap guys like Cam Johnson, Coby White, Vucevic, Jerami Grant). There are really only 4 guys that I would give up 5 picks for: Jokic, Ant, Lamello, Giannis and none look available to me anytime soon.
There's a lot of truth to that, especially when they take the most shots. With have the defense, but if we can get better shooters at those positions it would make a difference. For example, Fred is ranked 43rd among 47 qualified PG in TS%. He's ranked 30th in player efficiency rating. Sure, he has moments of greatness, but the averages speak for themselves. Imagine having a much more proficient shooter taking all those shots. His ASST/TO ratio is his best asset, where he ranks 3rd. I just don't want a much bigger TO prone guy taking his place either. Then there's Jalen, our other big shot taker. He's ranked 73rd out of 113 qualified SG in TS% and 42nd in PER. He's also ranked 73rd in ASST/TO ratio. As great as he looks at times his averages speak for themselves. There are plenty of more efficient shooters that can play his position.
This works in the trade machine. It also works if you add Cam or Tari (they will probably ask for one of them) it doesn’t work with Landale. If I’m the Rockets I’m playing hardball with Cam/Tari, If im forced to add one of them I’m taking a few picks off the table. But I don’t want to trade either one. A couple of picks(probably the most valuable asset in the deal), Fred’s expiring contract, and Reed’s untapped potential should be the selling point for this trade, take it or leave it. But like I said Fred, Reed, Cam or Tari works in the trade machine.
Just this week alone, the low IQ and lack of accountability displayed by Fox would make me want to stay away from him if I was a gm.
Two picks for 1 1/2 year of Fox is a no-go for me. No way I throw Cam or Tari in. I'd rather have the cap room to sign several players that actually fit our needs than Fox for 1 1/2 years and two picks.
lol, now y’all don’t want Booker Who y’all waiting for? Pipe dreams that will never come true like Luka and Jokic or Anthony Edwards? ain’t no way people don’t want Fox but will clamor for LaMelo, the dude who is always hurt and plays goofy basketball jacking up 25 shots and 13 threes a game…just within his past 5 games he’s gone 11-35, 11-32, and 12-27…within his past 5 games he’s had a game where he went 7-20 from deep and 3-18 from deep I thought all the 3 point launching is what’s wrong with the NBA and why the game is unwatchable?
This is simple guys, De’Aaron Fox is a better basketball player than FVV. If there is an opportunity to make a trade to add him in place of FVV you have to do it. FVV, Reed Sheppard and a first round pick for De’Aaron Fox.
I don't think Fox is that much of an upgrade. We need shooting and Fox isn't known as a weapon from 3. I prefer to keep the starting lineup in tact while making some moves to strengthen the bench.
Are there actually people who believe this garbage? He turned down the extension because if makes all nba he can get a supermax, it's common sense.
I'm hesitant to unload our assets for a guy that can't shoot. Especially when we already don't have shooters. I would give up *some assets for him. But certainly not what I would for some other players.
I prefer the culture we have built with Fred and Udoka. Selling Reed now is as shortsighted as the dorks trying to trade Alperen for trash.
That I would think about. FRp would have to be ours in 28 or 30 because of restrictions. The only problem is that Fox may be better than FVV, but he is not better than Amen and I don't want Amen languishing at SF or the bench for another year after this one. Fox doesn't really fit with this team and wants a supermax to re-sign.
