why would I be happy? I've been quite critical of Biden's prevarication; it costs Ukrainian lives.

Shame Congressional GOP position also cost Ukrainian lives through slow rolling funding and even pushing forth Russian talking points.

Why would you think Zelensky is a parasite? For using Western aid to stand up to war mongering Putin?

That's called the human condition..... Entitled Americans didn't invent war.

But sounds like you have some severe American guilt..... Was America ever great?

The Cold War was primarily about resources (as many conflicts are) and who controlled them along with technological superiority. The USSR controlled a lot of global O&G reserves and productions through their own imperialism into central asia and the middle east.

Kinda ironic that through inaction, a war monger claims his prize through a war of conquest. Feels like your "pacifism" is just a different side of the same human suffering coin.

At any rate.... easy to have your "beliefs" when you standing on the shoulders of American "imperialism" / "exceptionalism".

I always though that American imperialism/ exceptionalism is what made this country great.
    Maybe I'm wrong.

It's what made most of the empires of note, including the US. Controlling your surroundings seems to be pretty key in unlocking that level.

American Exceptionalism is not the same as American Imperialism.

Poland has every right and reason to fear an invasion. History shows Poland is a frequent target - and they simply cannot count on Western Europe to come to their aid. Western Europe is flighty and US policy is too unpredictable and inconsistent.

Russia is a real problem for many countries. Putin is looking very weak with the collapse of Syria and a lack of progress in Ukraine. No one knows what his response will be if threatened with being overthrown - not to mention whomever would replace him.

I believe a number of nations would be wise to increase military spending.

Why take money away from American needs at home to guard against a hypothetical threat to Europe from a weakened Russia? Makes no sense and is tone deaf to the message just sent by the American people at the ballot box.

Where did I comment on using US funds for Poland? The weakening of Russia and Putin is in part due to sanctions by the US and aid to Ukraine. Whether it’s a GOOD thing having a vulnerable Putin or possibly displaced Putin is another issue. I think there are a whole host of problems if Putin is kicked to the street.

American needs at home? Your GOP is constantly underfunding and undermining American needs at home. How many GOP governors have refused to accept federal money for school lunch, Medicaid, CHIP? Conservatives seem to loathe the needs of Americans that isn't a tax cut.

BTW, Poland buys US (and increasingly South Korea) military hardware that is made domestically.

Your ballet box numbers aren't as wide as you think and your own party will actually have to do something instead just obstructing.

I feel more entitled as the years pass. I'm also a nationalist who would rather live with an illusion of control as a superpower than live in a frightened dependent nation that can't defend it's own borders without an alliance to subsidize their military defense.

I see it differently with nuclear deterrence. If you back off from Putin because of his nuclear saber rattling after a decade old occupation of Crimea, then you're signaling that any state with nuclear weapons are fair game for when it comes to enabling revanchist ambitions.

Russia has made it clear when it treated Ukraine like it was it's own septic tank by blowing up schools, residential buildings and hospitals and by kidnapping 30 odd thousand children. That's not even getting into the ethnically motivated raping, castration, and cleansing.

Zelensky might be a bum centimillionaire but he stayed in Kiev when Biden offered a plane ticket out. If it weren't for successfully defending Hostomel airport, the world would be talking and thinking differently with Vlad taking a flight from a fifth story window.

That's the fear of Lithuania, Estonia, and Latvia. Everyone talks Poland but Poland isn't in Russia's crosshairs. The nations that are aren't as brash.

Yeah, it's not Zelensky and the Ukrainians haven't paid anything. Over a million deaths and countless families torn apart. One of the more idiotic Xweets that had no business making an appearance on a Houston Rockets BBS.
