Been thinking about this guy recently. I'm noticing this convergence of stand-up with the influencer business. Josh Johnson used to do more standard stand-up. But he started to do performances all the time on current events and the jokes thinned out, and it was more about his opinions on what's going on. And then he puts it on YouTube. He became an influencer, but he records his videos in comedy clubs. I think the convergence isnt surprising. People are more willing to hear people out for comedy and there is a tolerance for making crap up. And people get to know and think they can trust them. I'm not too keen on this development.

Once you're back in Boston, Bill Burr is still the king?

Agreed. I stil like him but it is thinner and less tested and durable.
Alot of his recent stuff . . .. let's say a 20 - 30 minute set - it has anywhere from 10-20 minutes of filler
meandering. .. pregnant pauses . .. awaiting crowd reaction etc
This is fine . .. .comedians do it all them time . . .when they breaking in new material
    however . .. this is it .. . this is the material . . ..
Normally they would work these jokes for weeks and months to make them tighter
so when you got the 60 minute special . .. everything hit harder and more
but now . . .since its all on youtube . . .. Once everyone seen them why
    rewatch them in your special?
Sure its a better version but . .meh . . . i know where its going

Watched Gaffigan last night, and while he's my favorite comedian, he's another one who certainly isn't 'modern'. While most of his jokes are pretty age-proof, there were jokes about the Muppets and general Bible jokes, which I got, but could see flying over the heads of most Millennials and younger gens.

What I'm looking for in this thread is probably someone 35 or younger. I guess there could be some outliers who are older but they would really need to resonate with a younger crowd.

I thought about that after I posted. But I guess these are comedians that have new stuff
or not necessarily house hold names (Josh wasn't IMO to an ext. . . was kind of underrated)

Roy Wood Jr is one of my favorites. His J Prince story on Twitter is classic.
