lol if this true, cj stroud is done.. Lamar Jackson got heat just for taking Winston's advice and not going with a traditional sports agent. Jackson was 23 years old had an mvp to his name and the falcons/dolphins had cap space but once the word came down not to sign him, these teams acted like foot soldiers and all acted accordingly lol. Now if they can give teams an ultimatum to not sign a promising "elite" qb talent then any other qb will be no problem at all
He will never be 100% with the way he can't avoid sacks. He gets tripped up way too easily and those falls take a toll.
I think it was Chris Simms who said earlier this year that teams have figured out how to hack the Texans blitz pick up principles and can show one look pre-snap, get the protection to change, and then run something that the protection can't pick up. CJ thinks he's covered, but then gets a free rusher flash in his face. I do think there are times when guys just get beat, but there's far too many times where guys are getting handed off to no one and a 4-man rush gets home against (at a minimum) 5-man protection. Texans need to eithrt give CJ more autonomy at the line or bring in someone experienced at Center to help set the protection/make the calls for the line. NFL DCs have literally have short circuited this version of the WCO, and it is totally messing up his progressions and mechanics. He's seeing pressure when there isn't pressure and/or not getting through his progressions because he's dropping his eye level, and that's on C.J. Also on C.J. is passing up on the underneath throws to try and force the ball down the field. Take the throws that are there and get ahead of the sticks. They might need to quickly pivot to a scheme that gets the ball out quickly to help get him in some kind of rhythm (back heel clicks -> ball is out) or work the TE on more option routes (1st/2nd read) to help give an easier out for CJ. These long-developing plays off of play action are just inviting pressure and resulting in big negative plays. So frustrating to see, but hopefully there is a counter that they can get to and hone over the next 2+ weeks.
I remember that from Chris Simms. It was Monday following the Packers game and his biggest worry was that Stroud would develop bad habits. Both Dan O and Mina said something similarly after the Jets game.
Play’s come in to slow - we never see CJ audible - he never gets to the line with 10+ seconds to look at defense … 3rd down we sit mixon every time so they basically know we are passing … our offense is just horrible predictable and Slowik calls the wrong plays at wrong time - we get inside the 10 and he runs the ball 2x before going for passes on 3rd and 4th
It’s also obviously effecting him mentally. Even on the occasions he has time, he is not setting his feet. This is causing him to throw bad balls.
just one season after winning oroty smh Trevor Lawrence been ass his entire career and still gets a bag But Im just playing the race card smh
