It’s clear. This kid is transcendent. We need to be letting him have the ball and letting him take shots. I’m not worried about his ego blowing up. I would like the franchise to begin shifting in this direction. I really like that we share the ball, but I want him taking a bigger role.
Probably didn’t need a new thread but I concur. And can a brotha get some props for the shooting improvement? It appears very real. Sky is the limit.
I love Alpi, but Amen impacts the game more without a doubt. He is possibly the best wing defender in the entire league AND he is so efficient offensively and makes smart plays on the offensive end like Alpi - makes the right pass, rebounding, smart cutting, and he gives you something in transition on both sides of the ball....but if your definition of "main star" is the person who scores the most points, then sure Alpi is the "main star" in that one category.
Definitely far from clear…if he ever develops a reliable jump shot though then he will be. But that’s still a huge question mark
I would love to see the data correlation with the right wing posters in the D&D and with posters that are adamant that the clear “star” of the Rockets is Sengun. Anyways carry on.
Nah you only pay attention to one side of the ball? Amen is already S on defense and is improving on offense. At 21 yr old that means he is a star already. If he develops a reliable jumper that would make him a superstar and one of the best players in the world.
Lol I’m not “only paying attention to one side of the ball” I’m understanding the reality that stars in the nba have to be top tier offensive players. I’m not discounting or ignoring his defense. But if he’s gonna be “our star” and lead us to a championship as the best player then he has to be a dominant offensive player.
transcendent is bigger than a star/franchise player OP said the kid is transcendent -- might cause a riot from a certain-extreme crowd
Amen is a great player. Sengun is the best Rockets player. They are almost the same age. Glad to have both.
giannis just won a ring a couple years ago or what? you said you arent paying attention to just one side of the ball and proceeded to do just that.
I’m not disagreeing he may become a star, but he’s doing very well because he’s NOT demanding the ball. He’s playing WITHIN the offense. Until he improves handles and his jumpshot, he can’t be a true star though.
What does Giannis have to do with anything? Are you trying to say Giannis isn’t a dominant offensive player? And again, I’m not ignoring his defense, it counts for a lot. But a dpoy level defender who is mid on offense is not a star. He’s got to also be good offensively is all I’m saying. I don’t think it’s controversial.
Yes? Giannis just runs and dunks he doesnt have a reliable jumper when he won his ring. Thats something Amen can do too. In fact Amen is scoring at 60% TS so he is definitely good offensively. Gobert is horrible offensively but still became an all star and got a max contract because of his defense so you are wrong there.
Exactly. if you’re watching him shoot the ball he’s already improving a great deal. He can repeat his form and he just needs to add a little bit of arc.
