If Brice Matthews is playing outfield, I will be disappointed. Cam Smith is a different matter, he is a corner infielder, so less negative impact and was probably expected when he was drafted. At some point the Astros need to get infield prospects who can stay in the infield.
The infield looks set for the next couple of years. If Matthews tears it up he could be the CF of the present and maybe future, depending on Pena.
We are set in the infield for the time being. Until it is time for Tuve to move off second there is no place else for Mathews or Smith to play.
I think maybe a September contract is best case for either of them. I hope the Astros don't need/feel pressure to promote either of them.
