Google "Stumble Bum" Ben Johnson is him. I think Detroit could actually fall off BIGLY next year when he leaves.
Not exaggerating, if they keep these bunched formations around Hamilton, Stroud is going to hurt. They send him and Roquon on blitzes more than any other Raven.
These bunched formations do not work, part of that is the staff is asking players to do things they are not capable of doing, they keep preaching we need to execute better.........well Captain Obvious, you dont have the personnel to execute what you are drawing up, have you self-scouted and watched Dalton simply whiff on blocks and give ZERO effort, have you seen the O Line not know who the **** to block or make a stupid critical penalty. You cant ask guys to do something they clearly cannot, we are in week 16, if they haven't caught on by now they never will...................have I said how much Dalton SUCKS LOL, the dude seems to not have any DAWG
Just gotta execute. Players gotta execute. We called the right plays. Just gotta execute better. Plays are there to be made. Just gotta execute. We haven’t executed well enough in our losses so we just gotta execute better.
Slowik: "League has adjusted to their success as a screen team." Also Slowik: "ima run that s*** four times anyway"
https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/60...week-16-worst-best-coaching-decisions-nguyen/ Slowik’s ill-fated strategy The Houston Texans insisted on throwing wide receiver screens against the Kansas City Chiefs defense on Saturday but that’s hard to do against press coverage because it’s hard to block defenders who are already in receivers’ faces. Also, the Chiefs have one of the best-tackling secondaries in the league. The Texans threw four receiver screens for minus-9 yards. Three of the four throws were on run/pass options (RPOs), so some of this is on quarterback C.J. Stroud, but why even have that option against a team that you know will play a lot of press-man coverage? And why keep calling them when every time you called one the play was blown up? Stroud threw his first bubble screen on the Texans’ opening drive on first down. It was blown up for minus-2 yards. After an incomplete on second down, Stroud threw an interception on third-and-12. Texans offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik called a tunnel screen on second-and-6 from the Chiefs’ 11-yard line. The play was blown up for minus-4 yards and the Texans eventually settled for a field goal. On the final bubble screen of the day, receiver Nico Collins was stopped for minus-1 yard on second-and-8, Stroud threw an incomplete pass on third-and-9, and the Texans had to punt. The Chiefs are 10th in defensive third-and-long conversion rate. Getting into these situations with a coordinator as aggressive and creative as Kansas City’s Steven Spagnuolo is not a way to live but the Texans unnecessarily did it multiple times and it cost them. Slowik created a lot of buzz for himself with Stroud’s success as a rookie but his stock has gone down because of his insistence on early down runs that go nowhere and repeatedly putting Stroud in difficult third-down situations in which the Texans’ protection plan is too basic.
I saw this play at least once today. CJ threw it to the flat for a pretty good gain. But those 2 receivers in the middle of the field just negate each other. This is what I imagine CJ sees on a constant basis and is partially why he holds the ball so long. I don't want to absolve CJ of his part, but sometimes our receivers don't get open because our plays and route combinations are poorly designed.
Reddit convinced me. I wanted a seasoned vet as an OC if Bobby got axed. Someone like Brian Daibol, Kevin Stefanaki or Zac Taylor. Hell maybe even Doug Pederson (not really). Certainly not a green QB/Passing game coordinator. But the name Reddit threw makes sense. Josh McCown. He’s done a damn good job at Minn. how much of that is KO remains to be seen. I believe Nick wanted him as an OC and scam artist and current Aggie employee Jack Easterny wanted him as HC. Which we all agree was effing crazy. But Nick may have been on to something.
Strong disagree. First, I want nothing to do with anyone connected to the Easterby stink. More substantively, I want someone who has been a senior part of multiple types of offense. This is the primary problem with Slowik - he knows one type of offense and doesn’t have the creativity or variety to adapt when the personnel doesn’t match his preferred style. Ideally, we would find would be an actual experienced, successful OC, but at the very least someone who has coached in multiple systems - ideally someone who has DESIGNED a system vs just learned to rote repeat an approach he copied from a superior mind. A first time QB coach is NOT that. We don’t need an inspirational guru - we need a creative, experienced tactician. We have a (potentially) great QB, the best WR in football, a very good RB and a great defense to keep games close. It is a perfect situation for an OC to cause the team to take a huge leap - we have a very desirable job, and we can afford to hold the bar higher than Josh McCown.
