Convenience. I'm guilty of it too. I mostly make dinner at home, but I'm hard pressed to make everything from scratch.

 

I feel like that's true of people who have had access to better healthier foods. But for those that can't ever or only seldom afford quality healthier foods, then crap comfort foods will seem like the ultimate prize or close to it.

The key is to expose people to healthier food that is fresh and high quality. Once they get a healthy exposure to that, they will find ways to avoid going back.

General funds are used to fund healthcare. You know that right? It's like saying your paycheck doesn't go to cover your mortgage or groceries because it doesn't go into a special bank account just for those things.

And the biggest taxes are state and local, which may go into special funds, though most governments prefer to maintain flexibility.

 

I get that the "food desert" is a real thing. Yet one person can eat for a week off of $20 (fruit and veg and rice and beans and chicken is cheap as ****) or you can have ~one meal at a fast food place. People choose the fast food.

He is an orthopedic surgeon and has been critical of RFK Jr's vaccine opinions and is still going to vote yes. I'm like dude, your Hippocratic oath should compel you to vote no
