This is awesome! Now show us how many single digit games these guys had before turning 23.

Working means winning (3rd in the west). Ime's a good basketball coach who has shown he can coach good offense while he was in Boston. Even right now the Rockets are in the top half of the league in offensive rating while having almost the worst shooting percentage. We'd be #1 if we had better shooters.

You're just thinking about how to get Jalen going. Ime's thinking about the team. What works for Jalen doesn't work for everybody else. Ime's repeatedly said he doesn't like the 'your turn, my turn' offense and doesn't like the ball to stick. He wants to see players like Jalen create for others by passing to find the best shot.

You are literally saying we should pivot away from a winning formula to a losing one just to get Jalen going.

Ok? Not sure what that has to do with anything. Everyone knows his issue is consistency.

But if we’re still talking Brewer, he averaged single digit scoring in like 12 seasons.

The relevance is that he is very clearly an aberration on that list.

By the way, since @Williamson asked and I’m a maniac…

Number of single digit games before turning 23

    Tracy McGrady: 82
    Jalen Green: 29

Now, is this a perfectly fair comparison since McGrady was a little younger than Green when he started? No. But I also don’t like the discounting of what Green’s done, either.

Watch Green carefully in difficult and easy matches, then you will understand why, I hope Rockets f.o does not think like you and does not build the team around Jalen.

Obviously the feeble minded Jalen apologists will blame anyone and everyone else... but the real reason Jalen is trash 90% of the time is because he can't shoot for **** 90% of the time.

The few times Jalen hits his shots, he's a totally different caliber of player.

    His failure is on him.

Jalen would be an awesome 6th man offensive spark off the bench. The problem is that he was drafted too high and makes too much money for that. The other problem is that we don't have enough offense to relegate him to a bench role.

So what you’re saying is, he is not as bad as some say that he is? And that he is on par with some of the games best.

Good points. Which is why I don't understand why Ime isn't playing Whitmore as much. However I guess he has a standard for getting on the floor....Defense first and foremost

I never understood this philosophy. To be a 6th man, you have to have a shooters mentality. Jalen seems to sit back and assess the game before he has his spirts. He has to get into a rhythm. If you notice most of his games when he gets on a roll, it's in the 3rd and 4th quarters, never in the 1st.

A 6th man has to come off the bench shooting/scoring. That's not Jalen, which is why I say he is not a 6th man.

I think that's his future role, when he hot you get the streak scoring, when he's not you keep his ass on the bench where he belongs.

Jalen is a mindless chucker, he'd gladly chuck up 30 shots in a quarter if you let him.

I agree with you on what a 6th man should do but I disagree about Jalen's assessing the game and choosing his route. He takes many ill advised shots. Getting hot in the 3rd and 4th quarter is the perfect time for a 6th man. If he earns closing the game, then that's great. When Gordon won sixth man of the year, he played some of his best ball.

No. I’m saying it’s too early to make any definitive statements, and comparing him to Corey Brewer is dumb.

I buy Jalen as a rhythm player, but I don’t think the guy can shoot and I think he has a very weak handle making him super turnover prone when he drives. I don’t disagree that the team and style of play aren’t best suited to his game, but that doesn’t change the fact that he can’t shoot, doesn’t finish well enough at the rim, and has a career high in turnovers per game.
