Brown has been more than vocal on how awful that looks… despite him trying to gaslight astros fans at other times into an “all is well” mentality.

He’s been particularly vocal against Meyers. Sometimes unprompted. Theres enough cues there (along with him bringing up more than enough times that “nobody wanted to trade for him”) that they’d like to move on if there was an affordable option.

I think Bregs would have already signed if he had 7/200 from Boston. My guess is he has 6/180 or 7/180 or so from Boston and is trying to get the Astros to come up. He can talk to Springer about what it’s like to play in Canada. Toronto fans are great and all of Canada supports the blue jays. But Bregs is a different breed, a baseball rat. I suspect it would be a tough pill to swallow, even if he got 7/200 from Toronto. I could see him preferring a lesser deal to go to Boston with all of its history and the connection to Cora.

If it took 6/180 to get it done for Bregman I would do it. Maybe see if they could defer
    25-30 million of the contract.

I think Boston is a long shot

Apparently Devers threw a fit about being moved off of 3b.

Bregman said all the right things to increase his market, but he probably doesn't have the lateral range to be a plus 2b.

Blue Jays have been strangely quiet since Soto signed. Makes me nervous. How's the horse racing in Toronto?

Trade for Mullins ( NOT with Framber in this scenario)

Trade Meyers for whatever you can get.

    Sign Bregman or Walker.

LF: Whitcomb, Dezenzo, Chas, or Leon
    CF: platoon Mullins and Chas
    RF: Dezenzo, Leon or Chas

Ideally Whitcomb, Dezenzo and/or Leon take a step and become a 110+ type bat if only used in advantageous matchups.

Chas is 4th OF and CF platoon vs LHP. It would be great if he rebounds.

It still puts a lot of hope in corner OF spots, but the run production from C, 1b, 2b, 3b, CF, and DH should be very good. And if at least 1 if the young OFers can take a step forward or Chas rebounds, this team looks very good.

    Considering. . .

Hanukkah (or Chanukah) starts on the same day as Christmas this year, so hopefully they'll want to wrap this up in the next week.

We can't pay Cole, we gotta pay Springer. We can't pay Springer, we gotta pay Correa. We can't pay Correa, we gotta pay Bregman. We can't pay Bregman, we gotta pay Tucker. We can't pay Tucker, we gotta pay Hader, Abreu, Montero. :p

At least they got Altuve locked for life.
    And Yordan’s prime years.

Thanks for everything Bregs! Good luck! (except in New York & Boston)

Like the ending of the Sandlot where they all disappear one by one. =(

Springer moved to Canada and helped kids overcome speech difficulties.
Carlos opened a high fashion boutique with Daniela, it's currently the hottest selling gear.
Bregman dabbled in the salsa business for 14 years but eventually settled as High School manager in Arizona.

So, what is the status of Bregman? Reports are all over the place.

Latest says he's definitely on the fence about the possibility of making a decision sometime in the foreseeable future, and lulling over the contract with a guaranteed maybe.

Bergman found out you don’t play hard ball with the Astros. The Astros are made of stone and they don’t get emotional about players. They focus on their player development and their scouting, and they pin their future and jobs on it.

I genuinely liked Bregman, but he’s seen the Astros move on from Keutchel, Springer, Cole, Verlander, Correa, etc….

When they knew they didn’t even have a 1 in a million chance with Tucker, they ditched that baseball dream catch, for a homely Paredes and co.

I agree, set the precedent that we're gonna move on after a certain time frame and keep to it. For better or worse, they stuck to their valuation. Sometimes, you just have to take the deal off the table.

Are the Astros the most Chad team in baseball? Talk about not getting hung up on any one player. It seems they tell you they like you and if you play hard to get, they are already all over the next available player, not even looking back!

Now the interesting part begins, the Bregman signing watch. Is he going to at the very least get the contract the Astros offered him from someone else? Bregman may need to do a Correa or a Keutchel, one year to prove he deserves the 200 million dollars he is seeking.

I'm glad the Astros aren't as emotionally attached to these players as I am.

Honestly, the only reason I want Bregman back is for sentimental reasons. Same reason I didn't want Springer or Correa to leave. I'm glad the Astros are smarter than me.

No one gets a big contract for what they've already done. Unless your name is Jose Altuve.

At least we had Bergman at his best, back when we won a WS.

My view on Bregman was more than sentimental. Bregman would have filled a need and something like 6/180 would have been fair in my book. With Springer the deal he signed was not a good deal, and for Correa the Astros had Pena waiting.

They went a different way which will allow a strong infield for less money and less long term commitment. Hopefully they can also move Pressly and add an impact bat in the OF.

Astros fans tolerated his consistently terrible starts to seasons. I have a feeling NYC or Boston fanbases won't take it so easy on him especially if he gets that 7+ year contract he covets but we'll see..
