Teoscar and Santander. Slow pitch softball type lineup

Go get Santander and reunite him with his fellow compadre, you cowards!

Still excited for the season. Curious to see how things will fall, in a good way.

Yes, I dispute this. There is literally NO NEGATIVE to a free extra year. Crane would prefer a 100-yr $180 million contract over a 20-yr $180 million contract over a 7-yr over a 6-yr over a 2-yr.

Anyone that understands math would happily save $25.7MM from 2025-2030, invest that money, and then pay that $25.7MM in 2031 and pocket the interest. The only scenario where Crane comes out worse is if there is net deflation over the next 7 years, in which case the US economy has collapsed anyway and Bregman's contract is the least of his worries.

Again, remedial math is needed. A 7-yr $180 MM deal is identical in substance to a 6-yr $180 MM deal with $4.3MM of the annual salary deferred and a club option for a 7th year at $0. Every element of that is better than the 6-yr deal. There is no owner in baseball that would pick the 6 yr over the 7 yr.

He’s looking at it for luxury tax purposes and you’re looking at it from purely an economic standpoint.

That said, I don’t see why anyone would choose 6/180 over 7/180. You’d benefit every season from a luxury tax standpoint.

Gonna miss Bregman for real. So many clutch moments in the postseason. All around great guy too.

I know the team wanted Bregs back, but I'm glad they didn't let that dictate their offseason.

I'm kind of surprised Walker signed before him. You would figure Walker would have a little more leverage once Bregman was off the board.

    @Nook
    Any word on additional moves?
Hoping we can free up money from Press or Caratini to spend on an OF.

Same here. Adding Teoscar or Santander would be amazing.

I don't see anyway the Astros give up more draft picks to sign QO guys.

Focus should be on the Winker level OFs.

We should've signed Max Kepler for the deal Phillies signed him for. I'm interested in Profar who is seeking a 3 year deal.

Well, looks like i might have been wrong, the Astros could be a move or two away from cracking the window a bit rather than committing to a rebuild

Nah. I think they sign an above average OF or trade for one. If you lose Tucker and Bregman than Paredes, Walker, and a good offensive OF gives you a better lineup. Signing just Paredes and Walker gives you a worse one. McCormick, Myers, and Dicenzo might be the worst offensive OF in baseball.

I know @Snake Diggit has already put it out there, but would a trade for Luis Robert look like? That would make this one of the most exciting off-seasons ever for the Astros in my opinion and would set us up as the best lineup in baseball.

Now that we are committed to competing (I always thought we were), I think keeping Caratini is key unless Salazar proves he can handle the show.
