There’s risk in this deal, as there was with Jose Abreu. I hate that it’s costing them a 2nd round pick and that’s where I think the negative overall value of this deal is. But this improves the team and more than replaces Bregman’s offense. And it’s hard for a 3 year deal to be crippling (although we are seeing the worst case now with the Abreu deal). As with the Hader signing, I do wonder if this deal makes it more likely the Astros sign another QO FA (like Burnes or Santander) since it would only cost them a 3rd and 6th rounder.
Not without danger, but the team offense has basically moved laterally from the team that finished the season. Walkers defense is much needed after the absolute butchery we've seen the last 2 seasons.
No, they won’t. They will only get a 4th rounder when Bregman signs, they lost a 2nd and 5th rounder for signing Walker.
Excellent way to rebound from losing Bregman. Now please add an OF. No more Dubon, Meyers, Chaz lineup.
This is the guy I’ve been saying since the beginning of FA, maybe even before that. My number 1 move and cost less then I expected. Very excited about this.
