Scoring outbursts like this, even if it's only against bad teams, still makes you hopeful that Jalen could have a Lou Williams ceiling.
If you squint I see the comparison... For example I'm sure Lou Williams is somewhere here https://www.statmuse.com/nba/ask/most-30-point-games-before-turning-23-years-old
Cool list to be on. Though I think Kevin Porter Jr's list of 50pt games before turning 21 was cooler.
You can't compare 2 guys having the most 30 point games their first 3 years when one get 32 min per game and the other gets 12. Even though Lou has a better TS% he was a bench player most of his career. Now, if they played him 32 min per game and he took the same amount of shots per game it would be a fair comparison.
there is talent. But so far he hasn’t been able to turn it into skills which he can use on a constant basis. As you said, hopefully he succeeds in that. My hopes are dwindling, if it wasn’t for his improvement in defense , I would totally lose my hope.
Sengun had a bad start in terms of scoring efficiency. But he is still the main piece in our offense and contributes a lot in other ways. As a poster who spammed the forum with on/off stat for a year as proof of green’s positive impact, you should see it very easily by looking at that stat now. I don’t see you post it anymore though. What happened? And unlike Green his bad efficiency is an exception not his good efficiency.
Lou Williams managed to find around 5-23 minutes per game his first three seasons on a ~30 win Eastern conference team. Lou Williams also scored less on worse efficiency (same exact adjusted efficiency if you want to do adjusted) on a mid team in his fourth year and Green is going to average ~20 on higher efficiency on a 50+ win team.
And when you do just guards https://www.statmuse.com/nba/ask/guards-with-most-30-point-games-before-turning-23-years-old 5 more years before peak average years of NBA players Kobe and Tracy McGrady entered the league at age 18
I'm losing faith too but as a fan you have to be optimistic. I think his defense shows he's trying. I just don't understand why he can't improve on his shot selection. With his speed he should be running a great p@r with Alpi.
That makes no sense people like sengun cuz he doesn't suck if he sucked he wouldn't be liked. If Reed Sheppard doesn't start turning it around he's gonna be hated too.
Apparently speed alone doesn’t cut it. He needs change of pace, body fakes, change of direction, see the passing windows, execute the pass etc.when he can use his speed, it looks great but when he can’t he gets stuck.
Shame the Rockets can't play the worst teams in the league for 82 games a season. Jalen might actually look like he's worth the money that way.
Shooting is the other department. If he can do both then he will be a superstar. If he can do one he will be a great player. Right now he can’t do either.
Yes.... still a dumb signing.... you know, the guy blocking Amen Thompson from the starting lineup who is untradeable. Didn't know we had Dillon truthers lol
As a poster who dismissed on/off stats as trivial you would also be a hypocrite. Funniest thing is his highest game score games of his career are against like the Wolves and Thunder.
I still don’t care for them. My evaluation of green or Sengun doesn’t depend on it. But you should be convinced that green has terrible impact.
I looked and this is completely false, outside of literally one game last season. He’s played the wolves 5 times and all the gamescores are sub 15, and in 6 okc games 5 were terrible.
I'm not the biggest fan. I do think Green plays better with more space. The Rockets best players don't provide much space at the moment. It is up to the player to either be one of the best players or to figure out how to play with the best players on a team.
Yeah and that's the problem. Like I mentioned earlier, if he can't put it together we have a big issue
