Elon Musk is the wealthiest men in the world - and contrary to what his critics claim, he is very shrewd and bright in his own way. Having said that - is power is largely dependent on Donald Trump. So Elon can only go as far as Trump wants him to. Trump - he isn’t stupid, he knows why Elon Musk wants to be involved and he knows the pros and cons. One thing I will say is that I think ego could be the downfall of people like Musk, Saks, Thiel etc. They are bright but they believe the American public loves them - when the reality is a large portion of Americans, especially young Americans don’t trust or respect any authorities in government or business - as soon as it appears the oligarchs are not working to solve the problems, they will turn on the oligarchs… but no one should underestimate Musk, he is a brilliant (but very flawed) man.
Well duh - but the Democrats better quickly get a grip on the optics and how to relate to Americans in 2024 and not 2008. Of course Elon Musk doesn’t give a **** about the poor or middle class, but he understand America better in 2025 than 99% of the Democrats in office.
This is the thing though, the thing taht literally anybody who has paid attention for 30 seconds to the House Republicans for the last 2 decades doesn't get. The thing that Trump doesn't get. The thing that Elon doesn't get. He pretty much can't do any of this without Democratic votes. The margins are not there and the house coalition is a bunch of sociopathic idiots. There's a couple of versions of how things go - oen is that Trump and Elon are evil masterminds cosntantly making calculated genius moves. There's an alternative theory that they are both the lucky winners of the 64-person coin tossing contest and are otherwise going to keep shooting themselves in the dick , as they both routinely do, even if they have insulated themselves from going to jail for it.
