Maybe. It could also just be the steady decline in Bregman's offensive output since his outlier year in 2019.
That 2nd year for Bellinger is a big risk. If Bellinger is terrible or hurt, he will be owed $52.5M/2yrs, if he’s awesome then he will get $27.5M and be gone. So a lot of downside and minimal upside. I guess this means Breggy will be in Boston.
The Yankees are spending....Bellinger, LH All Star Fried and All-Star closer Devin Williams. Ummmmmmm.....we gonna do anything or just keep on keeping on.
Arenado 25: $32,000,000 ($5M paid by Rockies) 26: $27,000,000 ($5M paid by Rockies) 27: $15,000,000 Bellinger 25: $27,500,000 ($5M paid by Cubs) 26: $25,000,000 (Player Option, $5M Buyout)
They also lost MVP-type Soto, their #2 SP Cortes, and All-Star Holmes (not to mention a whole bunch of pending free agents). Are the Yankees better than they were 2 months ago?
I can’t shake the feeling we are punting on this year and will reload after the money comes off the books from abreu, montero, pressley, etc
The Cubs just raped the Yankees. No wonder Brown wasn't able to get him !! Basically Yankees gave away J P. France for the honor of paying Bellinger $25M this year. Then if He is good and healthy, they pay him $2.5M to leave. If he's bad or hurt, they pay him $22.5M for 2026.
Now looks like Santander to the Yankees at least the internet is saying so and that he followed the Yankees on IG
Can't wait on Bregman forever to pursue other things, Astros need to move on if he's going to drag this out.
The Yanks have a far superior SP rotation. A far superior Bully The MVP and a decent lineup that's probably better than the Astros.
Astros better at C, 2B, 3B, DH BP and SS is a push Yankees better at 1B, RF, CF, LF, and in the rotation If Astros add 2 bats they’ll be on par with the Yankees.
I doubt there’s a plan B (unless they go full rebuild after realizing they’re only in a position to compete due to a weak division?)
