Rockets might win the NBA title by adding Booker. They could still keep the core together too... championship window would be unlocked.
If I’m the Rockets then the only way I am doing the Butler trade is if it only costs the expiring contracts. Maybe throw in 1 first and a couple of 2nds. DET In: Jock & Tate MIA In: Holiday, Adams & Jeff Green HOU In: Butler FVV/Reed Butler/Green/Cam Brooks/Amen Jabari/Tari Sengun Try round out the roster with vet min guys or buyout players. I think the Rockets can make some noise in the Playoffs with that lineup. Butler will most likely opt out after the season. The Rockets could decline FVV and try to re-sign both to reasonable long term contracts. Hopefully the market will dictate the lower annual value. If Butler opts in then they can pick up Fred’s option and run the above rotation for a whole season. Regardless they should resign Bari and Tari to Jalen Green type contracts. Next season Jalen either steps up coming off of the bench or he’s traded.
Does Danny take Jalen, Jeff Green, Adams, Tate and several second rounders for Sexton? I believe the salary math works with the CBA rules. we’d be very lucky to turn Jalen into Sexton without giving up any core assets given his near-max extension.
I think Sexton is only making $18M so that's a big overpay. Also, a back court of Colin & FVV is just begging to get targeted on switches. That being said, if Danny (highly doubtful) was willing to trade Sexton for Adams + Tate + several SRPs, I think Stone would be all over that. It's just highly doubtful kuz Danny gonna Danny.
my understanding is that any team trading for Jalen has to take like $36 mil back in contracts while sending out like $12-$18 mil but I’m not a capologist.
"young asset" is just a fancier way of saying a guy who doesn't play but he's young. the only reason we'd even be able to get Lonzo is because he missed that many games. you take that gamble 10/10 times. finding a Cam Whitmore is the easiest thing to do.
I guess I don’t see Jalen and those contracts as having a ton of value. Sexton is a proven starting caliber combo guard who is shooting at a high level on a good contract. Danny will get at least a 1st rounder for him. No idea if Utah values Jalen, but I’d rather give up Jalen than 1st round pick assets. to your point, I wouldn’t hold out much hope of dealing with Utah. Agreed that Danny gonna Danny.
Ingram is a good option to carry our offense when we get too stagnant but the sacrifice on defense would be enormous. He has one of worst defensive rating plus minus among all starters. He is especially bad in help defense. Also he does not seem like a team player, every team can't wait to get rid of him. But again not many options out there. I probably rather take Lavine over Ingram.
the thing I hope folks can agree on is that Cam is no substitute for a legit shooting guard. I see Cam as a small forward. I don’t think he can guard 2’s and his strengths are maximized playing closer to the rim.
With word that the Nuggets are interested in Zach LaVine, Rockets should help facilitate with MPJ coming to Houston.
You think there is a team out there that actually wants Jalen Green? If the Hornets want him I'll take anything. Heck he got lit up by Tre Mann the first game. I'll take Tre for Jalen straight up.
Weren't you the @$$ clown that told me Giannis was washed up? You'd rather have a 19 year old right now. What an i.d.i.o.t.
Lol what? I have never said that Giannis was washed. What 19 year old would I rather have? I have definitely been against getting KD and Butler.
