What former Astros pitcher officially appeared in a game, but injured himself warming up and ended up retiring having never thrown a pitch in MLB?
His younger brother is in the HOF. Also, while confirming my answer, I just learned he was born in Houston.
What Colt 45/Astro finished his career with at least 250 runs, 50 hr, and 250 rbi for 4 different teams ?
In 1971, Larry Yount had a good season in AAA for the Astros and got a September callup. He was announced as a relief pitcher and officially was in the September 15th game (after Vietnam era 1 week of military reserve service) but hurt his elbow while warming up and taken out before the game ever being live or throwing a pitch. He never made it back to the majors. In 1974 he was traded with another minor leaguer to the Milwaukee Brewers for Wilber Howard. He was briefly in the same organization as his little brother Robin Yount, but retired without them ever playing together after the 1975 season.
