I think Booker won't be on the trade block until the offseason at the earliest. I think Herro is the kind of player the Rockets could get without letting go key assets. Not sure how much of an Ime type player he is.... but I think he fits a glaring need without completely trading away our defensive identity. Herro Amen Dillon Jabari Sengun Holiday Green Eason Adams Cam and Reed in G League.
My understanding is that in order to trade Jalen during the season, the team receiving Jalen would have to take on $30+ million in salary and we can only take back like $12 mil. CBA experts please let me know if I have that wrong. so if we use the Pels as an example, we’d have to send Jalen and probably 3 of our expirings, but we’d only be able to take back like a Herb Jones or a combination of smaller salaries adding up to $12 mil, like Hawkins and Missi. But Jones and Missi are rumored to be off the table. So I don’t think it’s possible to do a Jalen deal with the Pels in season. I’m assuming most deals involving Jalen in season would have to involve a 3rd team.
I’d like to see Bari playing all the backup 5 minutes and shave off some minutes at the 4 for Amen and Tari. I don’t think we need Adams, Landale, and Uncle Jeff. Obviously Tate should be moved since he’s out of the rotation. I think we need to hold onto Holiday given our shooting and guard issues. my understanding is that Landale has 2 more years non-guaranteed, which means he’s a walking trade asset and we honestly don’t need to trade him this season. Adams and Jeff Green on the other hand are true expiring contracts. If we don’t move them before the deadline we get nothing for them. This goes for Tate as well. So assuming we want to recoup some value for Adams, Jeff Green and Tate at the deadline, what kind of player do u think we could get? Does two 2nds, Steveo and Uncle Jeff get you Brogdon? It would be nice to get someone who could break into our backcourt rotation. Or replenish our 2nd round pick coffers.
So...call me crazy, but I don't think the cost for De'Aaron Fox is as high as a lot of us think it is. He's an expiring contract that refused to resign when offered. Since he can refuse to sign where he's sent, he has a lot of control over where he's going. I truly think Fox can be had for VanVleet straight up along with several picks. To make it even a bit more in their favor, we can offer Whitmore (yeah, I know but he's not even playing) and take one of their scrubs we'd cut off their hands. A more realistic or easily obtainable player we can go after is Rui Hachimura. Something like Rui Hachimura and the corpse of Christian Wood (who we'd cut) for Steven Adams and Jae'sean Tate. Adams is exactly the kind of big man they're looking for and Tate can help them. Throw in a 2nd rounder if need be. Hell, we can do both deals really. De'Aaron Fox Jalen Green Dillon Brooks Rui Hachimura Alperin Sengun Tari Eason Amen Thompson Jabari Smith Jr. Jock Landale Reed Sheppard
Huerter is available, I would grab him for Landale, Tate and a couple of 2nd rounders. Kings are absolutely desperate for defense, those two will probably be in the rotation for them. Landale is a better rim protector than Murray or Sabonis, Tate can give them a solid 25 minutes at the 3/4 off the bench. When Jalen's not scoring well and teams are packing the paint too much, FVV/Huerter backcourt can probably bust that open.
I like Rui Hachimura a lot because of fit. If Adams can net him this needs to be done, ASAP. Let Jabari play some of the backup minutes at the 5. Then Tate is add to make the money work and he adds value to the Lakers, too. But here is where I want a change. No to Woods and yes to Hood-Schifino. He is not in their rotation now but fits our coach’s style of play. recap Adams & Tate For Rui & JHS (add SRP as need)
Huerter is having a pretty crap season from three just like FVV and Jalen (31%). He will probably bounce back, he's been a much better shooter in the past, but it makes me wary about trading for him. I'd much rather pick up Monk but not sure if they'll make him available.
Man he's a career 38% shooter on over 2000 3PA. Never shot below 36% in his life before this. I think we can safely call that an outlier.
I generally agree, but I also think Monk offers better shot creation abilities and defense than Huerter, for what it's worth. I suppose either one would be a decent trade target if the Kings are interested.
As a fighter and a fight fan who actually watched that fight, That's an insult to one of the greatest boxing matches in history.
Beal’s no trade clause now screwing over a second team. Don’t really understand why the Heat would want to take on his contract.
I agree with you, Monk would be better and is more of an overlap with Derozan. However, they are stupidly trading Huerter because it's the Kings after all. They had a good moment and ever since it's just ridiculous decision after ridiculous decision. We should take advantage. Huerter is a nice player to add to the rotation without losing any rotation players or FRP's.
A lot of these trade ideas are disconnected from reality. Absent some giant fall off where we miss the play-in, the FO is 1000% going to let the current group have their postseason run. The real transactional questions are: 1. What’s the list of star offensive creator targets for this summer and beyond, knowing that all of them individually are low likelihood. IMO it’s: Tier 1: Edwards, Mitchell, LaMelo (only 3 with championship 1a upside IMO; LaMelo the most possible via trade but lowest floor) Tier 2: Fox, Booker, Garland Tier 3: Bane, LaVine, Trae 2. What do you do about the Whitmore/Brooks question? You can’t have both on the team next year realistically, given PT constraints, so who is getting traded for a future pick, and should you do it by the trade deadline? 3. Is it possible to bring back FVV for cheap next year? If not, you need to trade for some contracts that roll over into next year, otherwise we’ll be stuck a little below the cap with limited trade flexibility.
A few thoughts. I would trade a lot for anyone in your Tier 1 or 2 categories. I think Booker or Fox are the most likely. I’m trading Whitmore as part of our big trade, whenever that happens. He’s a solid throw-in value piece. I’m, personally, not too high on him. I’m not trading FVV for random pieces. Either trade him at the deadline towards a big piece or let him walk next offseason. Just extend Bari and / or Tari to hit the cap max if that’s a major concern. FVV’s contract is a major reason why I’m not ruling out a trade before the deadline. It’s super easy to move given it’s basically an expiring. FVV + Whitmore for a big trade, or FVV + Eason for a “final piece” trade is absolutely possible IMO. The market will dictate matters more than anything else.
I just posted on this in another thread .... Even if you bring him back at a reduced rate, do you really want a starting guard tandem that's shooting 0.308 from 3 on over 15 attempts per game between them? With both FVV & Jalen on the books for next year they are over the tax line and a hair under the first apron with 11 players under contract. I'm not sure they can wait around for this current roster to have it's playoff run - they need to be proactive and solve the issue before the financials leave them with few options.
