I wouldn’t mind Kepler in the OF - he’s a bit up and down but decent power and a leftie. Right?! RIGHT?!?!?! I feel like sobbing
Give me J Profar (left fielder) & Amed Rosario (shortstop) & a few relief pitchers and lets Go!! _________________ I feel Jeremy Pena can play third base........ or Amed Rosario / Isaac Paredes Paredes & Singleton can work it out at first base
I just want to know why our team who's been to the GD ALCS and had more WS appearances in the last decade than any other team sits on its collective thumbs then smells them to find out if it still smells like S4!T ... slap in the face to the fans, tbh edit: where's that meme of that little sandwich kid saying wtf like your franchise ISNT growing in value... some finance nerd (SWIM) do a deep dive on the final deal when JimmyCrackCaine "bought" the club vs what the value is now after 2 WS trophies + tops of the AL....
Weak against RHP: SS, RF, CF, LF Weak against LHP: 1B, LF Astros need a good all-around corner OF plus a good all-around hitter who can serviceably play 1B and RF. They’d then have the best lineup in the league against LHP and a very strong 1-7 against RHP, with 8/9 being serviceable not terrible.
Give me from this group Goldy, Winker and Heyward if we are talking 1 year deals worth 20-30M (total) depending upon incentives. Winker and Heyward platoon with current Of, Goldy mans 1B every day, Whitcomb/Dezenzo get a crack whoever you like most. Diaz/caratini/goldy/altuve/Pena/paredes/dubon/ Yordan/Meyers/chas/winker/Heyward/ Whitcomb or Dezenzo. That looks like a decent and well balanced lineup.
Available players ranked in the top 120 of wRC+ against RHP since 2022 (min 400 pa): 20. Joc Pederson 21. Alex Bregman 35. Josh Naylor 38. Brandon Belt 40. Dan Vogelbach 42. Pete Alonso 53. Nolan Arenado 62. Paul Goldschmidt 68. Anthony Santander 72. Lamont Wade Jr. 77. Christian Walker 88. Teoscar Hernandez 93. Ryan O’Hearn 98. Jorge Polanco 116. Eloy Jimenez 119. Mark Canha Give me one of Bregman, Arenado, Wade, Polanco, or Canha, and one of Pederson, Santander, Hernandez, Jimenez, or O’Hearn.
I hope this is the 2025 lineup… 1. ALTUVE 2B 2. ALVAREZ DH 3. DIAZ C 4. SANTANDER RF 5. ARENADO 3B 6. PAREDES 1B 7. MELTON LF 8. PENA SS 9. DUBON CF Bench.. 10. CARATINI 11. SINGLETON/DEZENZO/WHITCOMB 12. MEYERS/MCCORMICK 13. ONE OF THE FIVE ABOVE
Dubon has come a long way, but no way he pushes Melton to LF. And no reason in the world he should be starting if Meyers, Chas, Dezenzo and Whitcomb are on the bench - every one of them would he better in LF/CF. I don't see Singleton making that team. Too many other players who can be backup 1b with better versatility.
I wish him the best. But a 1b only guy who can't hit LHP is at a disadvantage. If the team brings in an everyday 1b starter and has Dezenzo, Caratini, Diaz, and Dubon who can play the position that makes it tough to keep him on a 4 player bench.
