FVV, Whitmore, and the Nets' swap

    for

    Cam Johnson and Bog.

Have Amen start at point and move Brooks to the 2. Have Green come off the bench with Bog for a scoring spark. Lean into the Amen/Sengun two-man game with Brooks, Johnson, and Smith creating space.

    Amen / Brooks / Johnson / Smith / Sengun
Reed or Holiday / Green / Bog / Eason / Adams or Landale

Our defense would go to hell. Brooks can't guard SG's and Johnson can't guard anything. Amen does need to start and we could still play decent defense if Cam Johnson replaced Brooks at SF, because Amen, JG, Jabari, and Sengun could cover for him on defense and he is a much better offensive player than Dillon. A second unit that included Dillon, Bog, and Tari along with a couple of the starters or backup Center would be pretty formidable as well.

Paul Reed must be the KPJ of Christian Woods. His “advanced” stats suggest he is a decent player, but nobody wants to pay him or keep him on their team.

I feel the same way, but to play devil's advocate, there is an advantage of being a 1 and done playoff team. By becoming a playoff team, it will increase the trade value of all of our players, and it would put us more on the map for trade destinations. No way our name gets floated in Giannis and Butler rumors last year, but now a competitive record has us being name dropped frequently. Same thing Harden did for changing Dwight's mind about Houston.

On the other hand, even if all of our core 7 start to look like hits, we can't pay them all. Our best chance at an organic title(no superstar trades) is for Reed to become starting caliber while both him and Amen are still on a rookie contract. Time is not on our side.

I don’t think that’s true at all. Brooks can absolutely guard SGs, and regardless, it wouldn’t be that straightforward. Amen would likely guard the opposing team’s #1, Brooks’ would cover the #2. While Johnson isn’t the greatest defender, he’d be fine guarding whoever is left.

Maybe. I'd rather give Jalen a try without FVV in the game. His defense on SG's is very good. Dillon's might be better, but having Cam would open up the lane's for Green which could completely transform our offense.

You’re alluding to replacing basically the starting 5 in your original comment. Moving Jalen, Fred, or Sengun aren’t marginal movements.

It would be a big trade if any of them are involved, “not in the margins”. As I said, I don’t think any of those trades are out there to be made.

If we trade for him, who goes to the bench Jabari or Dillon?

I think he's a clear negative asset, i can't imagine someone giving up draft picks for him, that seems utterly insane no?

We just are kind if waiting on Booker IMO.

Cam might be it, Jalen may get it…. Who knows?

I think we went into the year waiting on Donovan, Mitchell and Devin Booker. Considering how Cleveland has played, Mitchell is off the table.

Phoenix is creeping closer to the edge in my opinion. I was pretty content to just wait out this season, but I was also figuring that FVV would turn his shot around. I just don’t know what has happened to that guy.

FVV/Uncle Jeff/Tate/Landale/Cam/future first for Butler and Herro?

    Sengun/Adams
    Smith/Eason
    Butler/Brooks
    Herro/Green
    Amen/Reed

3 team: HOU - MIA - SAC only works if Swipa says "Trade me to Htown and tells other teams he will only re-sign with Htown)

MIA: FVV (HOU) + Brooks (HOU) + Adams (HOU) + 2025 HOU FRP (top 5 protected)

SAC: Rozier (MIA) + Tate (HOU) + Cam (HOU) + 2027 HOU FRP (top 5 protected) + 2 SRPs (via HOU)

HOU: Himmy (MIA) + Swipa (SAC) + Ellis (SAC) + Lyles (SAC) + Ware (MIA)

Pickup Paul Reed off waiver wire

    Swipa - Amen - Holiday
    Thrilla - Ellis - R33d
Himmy - Tari - Uncle Jeff
    Bari - Lyles - Ware
    Sengawd - Reed - Landalunda

    Half-court: Swipa - Ellis / R33d - Himmy - Lyles - Sengawd

    Uptempo: Amen - Thrilla - Tari - Bari - Reed / Ware

Defense: Swipa - Amen - Tari - Bari - Reed

    Offense: R33d - Ellis - Himmy - Lyles - Sengawd

Three's: Swipa / Thrilla - Ellis / R33d - Himmy - Tari - Bari (with Swipa or Thrilla driving the lane with kickout to open man)

Next off season = still have Thrilla's contract to move if he doesn't fit with new team. Himmy starts doing the Harden thing & taking less $$$ (fingers crossed)

Pelicans are going to be waiving the white Flagg soon. I wonder if they would be players in a JG trade?

Only player I really see would be CJ McCollum. Has one year left on his contract at ~33 mil (20% cap) after this season.

Not sure what the trade would be (aside from none of our core players), but on paper he would provide an offensive punch and could handle the ball a bit. Would have crowded backcourt (not even factoring in Reed) for the season.

Yeah supposedly the Pels are going to be active in the trade market according to recent reports. Unfortunately BI is a free agent this offseason. CJ is too old. And we are probably not willing to pay what they want for Zion. Reports also say that Missi, Murphy and Herb Jones are off the table. One guy I like that may be available is Hawkins. He’s been hurt early this year, but was a good shooter last year as a rookie. No idea what Jalen’s market is now that near max money is attached.

McCollum could be a good backcourt pairing with Amen. A FVV for McCollum swap would save them a year of salary. I don't know if I would do it.

JG cant be traded this year.

But i do like NOP as a trade partner.

Send: Jeff, Jock, Tate, Holiday, a 1st and a 2nd.

    Receive: McCollum and Theis.
