    FVV+Cam+PHX picks for Booker+Tyty

I’d then sell Jalen off for the best possible return and have a backcourt of some combination of Booker, Amen, Reed, Tyty (assuming Jalen doesn’t net you a PG).

So how many of yall will jump ship when it's Reed and Jalen being introduced as the starters in introductions? Since the disdain is so nauseatingly apparent, who ready to step?

I dont know what Ime and FO thinks about him, but Jalen is not an NBA player, at least not a starting five player.. depends on raw athleticism, almost zero basketball iq, he has a chance to play with NBA's most talented and highest basketball iq big in Alpi, but he stii can not use this opportunity.
    Amen should take his place...

Sengun wasn't even close to ready. He was way too fat and gambled far too much on both offense and defense. He was a rookie. Silas was straight up incapable.

What’s more ridiculous, jalen isn’t an nba player? Or sengun is the most talented and highest iq guy in a league where jokic exists. Hard to say.

My opinion of him aside, with the deal he just signed that doesn’t even kick in for 10 months, I would be shocked if Jalen wasn’t the starter all season next year at the very least, and same for Sengun at the 5.

Will FVV be resigned and moved to the bench for Amen or Reed next season… that’s the only real question.

Id hate to lose him but I think someone is going to overpay for FVV dramatically next summer and the Rockets will probably have to let him walk so I’d probably bet now that the starting 5 next season would be Amen, Jalen, Brooks, Jabari, Sengun.

This just isn’t a team I see much changing with… for many good reasons. I do see a need next summer to add a good veteran or two preferably who can shoot with our mid level.

The Rockets aren't going to opt out without an agreement in place next summer with FVV. There just isn't a reason to get rid of a good player with a good team and only one bad contract.

Well other than the opinion that Amen has to play PG and Amen is incapable of playing with other skilled players.

I agree that the Rockets will probably pick up the option if Booker or Lamelo is not available, but your comment on Amen is beyond stupid.

    New back court?

I pretty much expect this current lineup to start together through the end of this year. Maybe next year.

    Eventually it’s

    Sengun
    Smith
    Eason
    Reed, Green or Booker
    Amen

Run a good % of the offense through Sengun and this works fine.

I think you're half right. I could see the Rockets giving FVV maybe 25M for 2 years or 30M. I don't see the see them paying him the full option amount, especially if his shooting remains where it is. No player shooting under 40% is worth 45M. Then again what do I know, I would've bet we wouldn't offer Dillon Brooks 4/80M.

Do folks think the current back court actually works? I think it’s the weakest part of our team. We are a contending team with an upgraded backcourt. I’m hoping for a change in the offseason.

Assuming we have no point guard alternative besides Amen and Reed, I’m not sure there’s a guy out there better than Fred who might sign a team-friendly deal. If we lost Fred we would be losing our best ball handler and one of our best shooters. We already have too little of both. His play has frustrated me this year but I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt. Extending Fred on a reasonable deal gives us more time to develop Amen and Reed and see if they can ultimately take over. I don’t think either are ready to take over full time next year.

so I’m gonna assume Fred stays and we continue to see a mix of Fred, Amen and Reed at the point next year.

Things would get a lot easier if we could replace Jalen with a true shooter at the 2. I think that’s the goal. So it’s just a matter of what 2-guards will be available. That’s why I mentioned Levine earlier because we know he’s at least available and he is a true shooting upgrade.

    Sengun
    Bari
    Dillon
    Levine
    Fred

Terror Twins taking most of the rest of the minutes with Reed filling in at both the 1 & 2. Or start Amen at the 3 or 4. He’s better than Bari and Dillon. Regardless, that’s a contending rotation.

I agree with most of what you're saying, but neither Amen nor Reed has shown any ability to be a starting lead guard. Amen off ball, sure. Hell I'd put him in the starting line up over Jalen Green right now. But his handle is not a lead guard's handle and Reed looks scared on the court. Neither is anywhere near ready to take over.

If any Jalen lovers still think he's the answer at the SG position, stop drinking Kool-Aid. It's time to become sober and face reality.

If the Rockets don't have a brand new starting backcourt next year, I will be severely disappointed. Neither FVV nor Jalen are starting caliber players on a team expecting to make a playoff run.

Wouldn't mind FVV returning as a backup if the price is right.

Sengun had conditioning issues when he came into the league. The coaching staff was out running him in sprinting drills, and he was out of breath in the videos from practice and you hear the coaches really trying to push him. A lot of it was on Silas, but he was not in game shape even at the beginning of this season, Ime mentioned he was getting there the first month.

Jalen would be cooked in the Iverson, Kobe, or Jordan era.......so many guards better than him.

Sengün would be a mediocre presence in that era as well.

Those times had 7 footers and 7feet 2 guys like Mutombo, Mourning......
