What is up with Houston sports teams always trying to sign or trade for players past their prime and 5+ years too late?
The teams that never do this are teams that aren't trying to win and the Rays. And they signed a child rapist to a ten year deal.
Santander would also cost the Astros their 2nd and 5th round draft picks and $1MM in international bonus money. Not a great plan if you are trying to rebuild the farm sysytem
Charles Barkley, John Wall, Juwan Howard, Dikembe Mutombo, Demarcus Cousins, Ed Reed, Jose Abreu, Pudge Rodriguez, Doug Drabek, Greg Swindell, Preston Wilson, Kaz Matsui, Woody Williams, Scott Kazmir, Ahman Green, Tony Boselli were only 3+ years past their prime. Texas is a great place to retire... Yes, everyone catching strays today.
2017 lineup vs potential 2024 lineup: Springer : ???? Altuve : Altuve Gurriel : Diaz Bregman : Paredes Correa : Yordan Reddick : McCormick Gonzalez : Dubon (unlikely to match Marwin’s 2017) Beltran : Arenado* McCann : Pena Gattis : Caratini Marisnick : Meyers Aoki : Singleton If they add one elite hitter (or get a breakout from an unknown like Melton or Dezenzo) plus Arenado, their lineup will project to be roughly on par with 2017’s. But still well behind 2019. Pitching staff: Fiers : Blanco Morton : Brown Keuchel : Framber McCullers : Garcia Peacock : Arrighetti Musgrove : Wesneski Devenski : McCullers McHugh : Blubaugh Giles : Hader Gregerson : Scott Martes : Ullola Harris : Ort Sipp : King Lotta subjectivity but gimme that 2025 staff.
2019 can easily be regarded as one of the greatest lineups ever put together in a single season. The only thing more unbelievable than that lineup's potential from 1-9 is the fact that they did not win a World Series that year.
And rotation and bullpen were phenomenal especially with Will Harris as an all-star. Joe Torre and the MLBUA screwed us twice in that series.
Scottie Pippen, wilbur Marshall, joe morgan, cedric maxwell, world b free, purvis short, archie manning
U made a false statement about Hunter being inconsistent. Go look at game logs. He started the season bad. Then he was pretty damn good the rest of the season. Yes i am a homer and say that with pride. I ride and die for the Astros. He use to be our top pitching prospect. And yes I have faith that he's taking the next step into becoming a #1 or at least a #2. And the 6 innings thing. **** only a few pitchers go 7 or 8 innings on the regular. Look at Blake Snell Mr. 6 innings himself. Just got him paid like an ace. The lack of respect for Framber I'm not even going to address cause it's ridiculous
Of course, Astros are going to win 120 games and every starter will be an all star. It's just not worth it to argue with blind homers
