Question about the jump hook here: Can what Yao is doing with his off hand be construed as clearing out or pushing off? Sometimes when you see guys clearing out with the off hand they get called for an offensive foul... it's almost like a stiff arm... Obviously, since the refs don't seem to call the fouls on the guys who have their hands all over him when he's shooting in these pics, I can see why they'd also probably hesitate to call Yao for an offensive foul... and I hope they don't start anytime soon.
he is entitled to his space. as long has he isnt using the arm to create an advantage for him, its perfectly natural for him to assume that he is allowed to protect the ball.
Wow I've never seen those pictures before. And I've never seen them all in a thread about Yao's next "go-to" shot here either. Especially not like in the last month or so.
Everyone has to have a signature shot and that is become his along with his turn around shot. I mean when you are that tall a hook shot is impossible to be blocked so why not use it and use it often.
