We all know Beltran will be a hot commodity at the end of the season and several teams will be bidding for his services including the Chi Cubs.

If he does not sign w/ the Astros they better pray he doesn't sign with the Cubs b/c he will make us pay for years to come. Look at what Alou has done to Astros and multiply that by 100. The Astros offer doesn't have to be the highest but better be higher than Chicago. I rather lose him to an American league team assuming the Astros cannot resign him.

In my (ever-so-humble) opinion, the one great thing about the Stros winning this first series against the Braves is that Drayton now sees the evidence that Beltran is a core part of this team and that the city of Houston would string Drayton up if he allowed Beltran to go.

This offseason, Drayton McLane will throw every dime he has at Beltran in order to keep him an Astro. Drayton will not let even Steinbrenner outbid him, because Drayton knows that if Beltran leaves, Drayton will be run out of Houston on a rail.

I agree wholeheartedly, and hope Drayton will see this, but enough about that for now...GO ASTROS!!!

I would be more worried if his name didn't start with a B. He is now officially a Killer B.

I personally think he feels like this is his home now. He'll re-sign here. It's not always about the money.

All the money earned for this playoff run should be thrown right at Beltran. Let's hope the rumors of Beltran wanting to get rid of Boras were true...and he gets a new agent. Boras is gonna try to outdo his ARod deal.

Cubs? The Tribune co. has little incentive to fork over that kind of money since they sell out every game anyway, and they owe a slowing-down Sosa something like 35 million over the next 2 years.

The Yankees, with Williams now an average player at best, can probably afford him and have a need.

worry not. It will all fall into place.

clemens will come back to pitch along side Andy Pettitte.

    pettitte will be healthy.

Roy will get that much better.

Bidge will be brought back to 2nd base (kent will be allowed to go, unless he signs on the cheap.)

Lane will take over at left field, giving us a tremendous outfield.

Beltran will see a great roster, great team and an excellent GM that gets us the pieces. He has played during the greatest run in recent baseball history. He has witnessed unprecedented fan support of the team. There is a strong latin american fan base here.

In short, the Astros are a known quantity to him. He certainly has more personal knowledge and relationships with the Stros than any other contender.

Will he give this up for an extra million or two? I honestly don't think so. Much depends on whether he is a big city NYC kinda guy. I don't get that sense. I think he will wind up right here.

He his performance in the NLDS is almost historic. It would be bad karma for him to change unis.

Plus, it would be hard to live up to the NY media expecting an NLDS-like performance for 162 games!
