I expect FVV to stay on a smaller future contract. Like Brooks, he has value beyond just the stat sheet. Jalen is most likely to go but I wouldn't say it's a complete lock this summer unless there's a star perimeter player that fits our team. If it's a SF then they start Amen at the 2 and if it's a SG then they just replace Jalen in lineup. But, I wouldn't trade any top assets unless it's for a player that pushes us to be legit championship contenders.
You guys are delusional. Amen is the starting PG. Probable SG is Green, but in the short term it should be FVV and Green with Jalen as 6th man. No matter what Amen is in the starting back court.
I think both FVV and Jalen will be gone next year. If FVV returns, it won't be as the starter. Amen will get one spot. We'll see about the other.
Y'all are wasting your time here, it's going to be Sheppard/Green/Amen at the 1/2/3 for the next 10 years (Amen and Sengun running the offense). Stone in his last interview detailed how the organization thinks we could win a championship just by developing the pieces we already have. Green is shooting 40% from the field and 30% from 3 and Udoka still believes in him. Think about it logically for a second. They paid him $100m a few months ago and they could have let him go to RFA instead. They didn't want to risk him getting disgruntled or losing him for nothing. If he doesn't improve of course I'm with you - he should be traded - but no one believes that Green's highest potential is just what his stats have been. You have to live in the reality we're living in a little bit.
Reed has all the tools available to him to succeed. FVV and Aaron Holiday are both perfect guards that will help mentor him. A great coaching staff and a front office that believes in him. All he has to do is step it up and take it, so if he turns out bust it's 100% on himself.
I think there's a chance. Kupchak has prematurely traded a couple of good young players in his history. He's good at drafting, good at selecting vets, not so good with developing young players and valuing their future correctly. Lamelo under Udoka and paired with our guards would be interesting but I honestly don't think it's a good idea to bring in another person who needs the ball a lot. It would also push Amen off ball a lot more which I'm not sure I'd want to do given how rapidly his jumper is improving.
1/3rd of 4th yr as pro NBA player, 250 games played and started, 22.5 mins a game SHOOTING guard career averages of 16.2 FGA 42% 7.2 3PA 33.5% no upward trend or trajectory between seasons
Don't mean to pour on your parade but LaMelo should net a Top 2 pick in a very good Draft Class plus good role players. Plus other picks that are not top. The emphasis is on the Draft pick.
LaMelo does not seem happy based on post game interviews this year, and that usually means he will demand out at some point. He seems to also be injured often, so I can see them eventually being open to trading him. They are currently a bottom 5 team and trending downwards. He really does need a coaching staff he can respect. Part of the reason he is #3 in scoring is because he can not rely on his teammates. He has been pouting like Harden was in his last season in Houston.
I don't recall the championship era Spurs teams constantly making trades, even with their role players they didn't have the mentality to always be looking to upgrade like Morey has done. It seems like Ime and Stone may be trying to take a play out of the Spurs playbook in that they value continuity over slight upgrades. I think in the NBA you tend to have this mentality to want to always be upgrading your team and making trades, but you lose the continuity and team chemistry. If you have a group of guys that buy in to a system, specifically a defensive oriented system, you benefit from having the same guys there running the same types of plays for a decade vs. trying to integrate new rotational guys each year. I don't even recall the spurs being involved in any super star trade talks for like 20+ years. I still think we consolidate some assets to get a true super star if one becomes available, but i think the days of always being involved in super star rumors every summer may be gone.
Is there any way to get Ant without touching Amen/Tari/Sengun? That would be a dream. If so, and if Reed turns into who the FO hopes he will, the hope in a couple years: Reed Ant Amen Tari Sengun That could be some exciting basketball to watch. Sorry, that would be absolutely amazing to watch. But, we are #2 in the west right now, so let’s just enjoy it
Right now the most we could get for Reed is TJ McConnell. That’s it and maybe worth exploring with the Pacers.
