The problem with floating rumors about a great potential return on a trade (at least as a Houston sports fan) is that the real deal almost never matches what our expectations were set with. Now that the Cubs deal has been floated, literally ANYTHING deviating from that will be a massive disappointment. And the fact is that it will almost certainly deviate from that because it was most likely the Astros putting that out there for other teams to see.
He makes up stories about Astros personnel being racists and drunkards when he was with Chron... he has no respect from me.
Remember, even if it seems like we get fleeced, Tucker was 100% gone after this season anyway. That’s all the Astros are giving up- just 1season of Tucker. Likewise, any team that the Astros trade him to will probably also be getting him for just 1 year. I would say that as long as DB isn't a total idiot, The Astros should come out on top here.
Dana traded a bunch of middling MLB players with ok floors for the chance to make the playoffs and once you make the playoffs as we've seen a lesser team can get hot and win the whole thing. Well worth what Dana paid IMHO. No stars were traded in that trade.
A 26 year old outfielder with a 40%k rate, Lil Wagner, who is older than that and doesn't hit for power or have a natural defensive position, and Jake Bloss. Y'all have to stop pretending Yusei was expensive.
So you're pointing out ONE acquisition out of how many other things Dana's popped off about?? Also, as far as Kikuchi, the credit doesn't go to Dana on this. The credit goes to the pitching coaches and the analytics nerds who thought they could "fix" him. Nook could speak more to this but I'm just just sharing what my contacts shared with me.
