It seems just a matter of time, shoring up a weakness...into a strength. FVV & Jalen go... Which studs come on board, and start while we are perennial contenders?
I think Reed Sheppard is the future point guard. Amen Thompson will probably be Dillon Brooks replacement in the starting lineup at the small forward spot. So I think the Rockets will target a scoring guard to pair with Reed Sheppard if it's not Jalen Green.
FVV and best guard available in a trade within next 2 years or Amen. I don't think FVV is going any where in the next 2-3 seasons. On the other guard, it will depend on if a star guard becomes available or not. If one does, Amen is the SF instead of the SG. Alternatively, FVV could be the SF, another guard is added and Amen is the PG.
Their options are limitless really. The one thing that's certain is that Amen will play a whole lot of minutes. I really hope he continues to develop offensively ....
Great thread topic. Moving off Jalen and his contract has to be the top priority. That will likely be done through trade in the offseason. My bet is that we work something out with Chicago for Levine. We know Chicago showed interest in Jalen at last year’s deadline, and they need a young potential star to start rebuilding around. If Levine demonstrates a full season of health at the elite shooting efficiency he’s showing right now, I could see the rockets being willing to take on these last two yrs of his contract. We upgrade our shooting and the 2 position, we get off the Jalen money. We maybe even get an additional asset out of it. Praying for Booker is not a strategy. Levine becomes an expiring contract asset after just one year. I’m aware of the injury risk; If there’s a better realistic SG upgrade available I’d love to hear it. I’ll probably get flamed, but I’d even kick the tires on a Jalen for Harden deal, especially with Fred being able to play on and off ball. It seems ti me that the Clips are going have to start the rebuilding process at some point. I’m not sure he fits out timeline, but he’d make us a legit contender next year. Norman Powell is also another guy who would be an enormous upgrade for us in the backcourt. May not fit our timeline though. if Tyler Herro we’re to become available I’d be willing to move some significant assets to get him, but Jalen would have to be in the deal. Doubt Miami would be reasonable to deal with. I’m a huge Malik Monk guy, but can’t see Sac-Town dealing him a year after signing him. as far as Fred, I think you try to work out a 3-yr $60 mil deal. He helps bridge the transition to Reed (assuming his development progresses well). Fred needs a shooter next to him. A Jalen or a DeAaron Fox is not the right fit. If there is any way to get Nikeil Alexander Walker for the MLE, that would also greatly improve our 2-spot. He’s a free agent this offseason but I doubt Minny lets him get away. Really good 2-way guard who can shoot.
I see a lot of support for Reed Sheppard on here but I think you guys are not understanding what he's asking. He means what's our new backcourt on the ROCKETS, not Rio Grand
I say Amen & Jalen, trade FVV for KD before the trade deadline. FVV's contract is up and the Rockets are not going to resign him at $40mm per. Amen is ready! It's not like our offense is stellar, so there's no use for FVV, however with this move you improve your defense, length and shooting. Plus if KD gets hurt we still have Brooks and Cam FVV, Landale and a future Phx #1 for KD KD has 1 yr left on his contract after this yr. This will give the Rockets another yr before they have to pay Jabari and Tari. C- Sengun PF - Jabari SF - KD SG - Jalen PG - Amen Bench - Adams, Holiday, Cam, Tari, Brooks.
Bro, I 100% agree with you. Not sure what ppl are SMOKING but with what I’ve seen from Reed, he is nowhere near starting, he’s not even backup material at the moment
Plow, IMO FVV reupsforanother2+1 @25/yr…and JG4 is ours, for at least one more year. Reed grows into solid contributor. Cam nails the remaining rotation spot. Now, what will Bari be worth? SnT? A deal including Ausur?
